The last review we saw was that they had dropped the ball, well I can tell you that if they did (as we had never been before), they have picked it up and are running with it !
It is only a small place - cozy - maybe seating for 22 max. Artwork on the walls ... hmm, well, not our taste, it is a bit different, quirky, some people may like it. The age range in the place was mid 20's to us (50's) and a couple of older people, so it's age friendly for everyone.
The food - You automatically get a bowl of prawn crackers when you sit down, and a bottle of still water. We then had Thai Fish Cakes with a nice spicy dipping sauce - yum. Next was the mains - Pad Thai Chicken and Prawn plus a Thai Fish Red Curry dish (was on the specials) along with 1 small white rice and 1 roti.
Everything was great - all good tastes & flavours - the fish was REALLY GOOD (something we would go back for) ... while I could have done with a small extra kick (chili), my wife said it was perfect for her, and that the other flavours were enough.
Service was good - there was just one girl working - maybe owner - husband (at a guess) was in the kitchen doing the meals.
They also have enough drinks to chose from. We had a stubby bottle of Cider each (Pipsqueak from WA) with our dinner.
We have just returned back to Australia from 4.5 months in Indonesia, we like Indo & Balinese food, but Thai is still our fav ... so it was a good start to our return to Aus.
Cost - $60 total - so $30 per person - so value was good.
All in all a good experience - thank you...
Read moreI hate to criticise but the food at Neo Thai PARKDALE is less than average. Unfortunately their food lacks any authenticity as It has been grossly westernised with sickly sweet sauces and repetitive flavours and ingredients. My “crispy fish with celery and thai herbs” ended up as a plate of deep fried fish with standard thai vegetables (thin slices of carrot, chunks of onion and broccoli) with zero celery and no a single thai herb in sight. The sauce was purely salt and sugar and corn flour to thicken it. My plate looked just like every other meal being served. On a separate note the waitress was pleasant and service was quick. Sadly we won’t be back.
Update: my daughter ordered vegetarian pad thai here on Saturday and has felt quesy in the stomach since. She said it was the worst tasting pad thai ever. Poor quality slapped together and tasteless. Come on Neo Thai. What are you doing? ...
Read moreWe have been here many times before but has really dropped off the last few times we have been. Tonight paid $15 for a curry that was oily, had split and was only half filled the takeaway container when as early as last week it was a nice meal. When I returned and asked for it to be replaced they cooked another container of exactly the same thing and tried to charge me for second serve as well. When I asked why it was half the size it was the previous week I was told it was "a new recipe". We also ordered Pad Thai which was also much worse than we have had before. I was forced to stop at the Indian restaurant along from there to get something to because replace the curry. It was the same price, was delicious and more than my partner could eat. We will...
