Been in here for take away coffee several times but today was the first time we came in for a meal.

Woke up craving pancakes, and Dan The Man couldn’t be bothered whipping up his famous hot cakes because I still haven’t organised our pantry. So… I suggested checking out @reddoorcafekingsbury

It’s conveniently located just a 15 minute walk from where we live in Reservoir which we love because it means the dogs can get a good walk, and the outside seating is perfect to accomodate us all.

Another bonus is the laundry mat a couple shops down, perfect to get the doggies bedding and things all cleaned up too!

Late and hot chocolate in mugs was on point! ☕️

Triple stack of pancakes with Berry compote and cream that I swapped the ice cream with was generous and yum.

Dan The Man had the Full Breakfast - Poached Eggs on Sourdough Toast, Mushies, Tomatoes, Spinach, Bacon, Sausage and the most delicious Potato Gratin, yum 🤤

Will be back again for sure - love the convenience, well priced menu and...

I was excited to find this lovely cafe a couple of months ago and almost weekly I’d go here with my sisters and mum. My sister has a 7 month old and we usually sit on one of the larger tables so it’s easier to feed and entertain her. Last week, when we asked to sit at our usual table, the waitress begrudgingly set up the high chair to accomodate us. Today, when we asked to sit there, we were told there was a booking. The entire place was empty except for one couple sitting near the window. We were told to sit right next to them squashed against a wall and when people came in to sit at the bench behind us there wasn’t any room and the high chair was moved out of the way. My sister asked if we’d done anything wrong afterwards because no one came to sit at that table during the time we were there. We were told the party didn’t show up. We didn’t feel welcome and won’t be...

Ordered eggs Benedict and asked to have bacon/meat substituted with mushrooms.

When I went to pay, I was charged full price for the eggs Benedict AND mushrooms as a side dish. I’ve asked for this substitution in many cafes and have never been charged for mushrooms as a side.

The wait person didn’t explain this to me when I ordered which is really poor service. I’ve tried d been told I could have said ok or ordered something else.

Vendor prefers cash payment and I always paid cash to help him out with his preference.

He got cash, he got to resell the meat I didn’t have and charged me extra for a substitute.

Never ever am I going there again.

Awful way to...

There are few places where I can reliably say that I would each four or five of the menu items every day of the week! The Gratin is amazing, the lettuce ball, the Benedict perfectly understated, beet mush is amazing, and now the special of a deconstructed burrito.... top notch. Worth going over the far corner of my suburb, as good as travelling to Lilydale for my other top five picks.

A great local cafe with fabulous service and good food at reasonable prices! Plenty of parking available in front of the cafe. Red Door has a great retro vibe and is reminiscent of sitting at my granny’s kitchen table but the food is modern, fresh and delicious! They also serve great coffee. Whether it’s breakfast, brunch or lunch it’s worth a visit! Will be back soon!
