The new owners of this venue used to own La Campagna in Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. They prided themselves with authentic Italian home cooking that was served as they would if you ate in their family home for lunch. It is not fine dining but rather rustic, flavoursome home cooking from the tomato sauce the olive oil and olives, everything is how a traditional Italian family would serve. The dining room is small but has a very welcoming cosy atmosphere with a beautiful warm wood fire and in the warmer months outdoor seating with views. Most of their dishes are cooked in an outdoor wood fired oven. The menu selection is limited but everything is exceptionally tasty and with generous servings. The Fantini Farnese Sangiovese wine is perfecto and marries well with the Italian menu. I would highly recommend this place and will be dining there regularly. Unpretentious, hearty and simple with warm...
Read moreFive of us went for lunch last weekend. Despite having established the bistro some months, there was only a blackboard menu without any prices. We had the worst antipasto ever which consisted only of small amount of cheese, olives, some warm Turkish bread & some bruschetta with non descript topping, not one slice of salami or sausage. When we ordered for a Prosecco, were told by owner/chef it is reserved only for summer drinking. The main courses were quite tasty, but small portions & salad on the side costs extra. While the young waitress was nice & polite, she was not trained & we were embarrassed to ask price for each food & drink item. The owner & his wife seem totally indifferent to their task. We would prefer the gallery as it was without this added venture. It has always hosted good exhibition with flair & warm atmosphere. We certainly will not return at this...
Read moreLovely place to visit. Ted is beautiful, so calm and filled with love. The food is authentically simple with big flavours. The antipasto was enough for two and filled with quality not quantity. The pasta sheets were light and melted in your mouth, the french trimmed lamb cutlets with the soft potato mash and silverbeet was deliciously balanced and the apricot cake finished off the meal and wasnt overly sweet. We were able to relax and enjoy the abundant atmosphere like we were in a typical italian back garden of greenery and olive trees. The staff were gentle and kind. Very reasonably priced for the quality of homemade food that you...
