Taste of Cyprus is a souvlaki food truck currently located at 555 Sunshine Ave, Taylors Lakes 🇨🇾
Owner Michael has been running this food truck for 8 years, pouring his heart into it. He’s passionate, friendly and always up for a chat. He’s moved locations around 10 times, often getting muscled out by big businesses while trying to find a permanent home.
His style mixes Greek and Cypriot flavours, using lamb shoulder and chicken maryland and is also 100% halal.
✔️ Saganaki Chips – don’t wait, eat them when they’re hot! ✔️ Beer Battered Chips with Feta – everything’s better with feta (put that on a t-shirt!) ✔️ Nutella Strawberry Souvlaki – it is impossible for this not to be good, some more strawberries would be nice. ✔️ Mixed Souvlaki – meat is delicious, I’ve never had rocket in a souva but I don’t hate it! Fluffy, big pita. ✔️ Mixed Open Souvlaki – we got the first cut so all the yum crispy bits. They even finish them a little extra on the grill.
This one’s a little different to most souvas I’ve had! We can argue until the cows come home about what is or isn’t a souvlaki, technically it is skewered meat, but in Melbourne it’s a pita wrap with meat. Either which way, it’s tasty and made with pride. That’s enough for me!...

Picture this: succulent, perfectly grilled lamb that’s tender and bursting with flavor, wrapped in a soft, warm pita. Add to that a generous handful of peppery rocket that adds a fresh, crisp kick, and a dollop of homemade tzatziki that’s creamy, tangy, and just the right amount of garlicy goodness. Every bite is a flavor explosion that transports you straight to the Mediterranean!
And let’s not forget the waffle fries! Crispy, golden, and seasoned to perfection, they are the ultimate sidekick to the lamb kebab. Each fry is a crunchy, seasoned delight that will have you coming back for more.

Took nearly 1 hour for our food to be made, and when it was finally ready (after chasing up twice) the 2 meals weren’t even made at the same time, which meant 1 went cold before the other was ready. We ordered the poutine and for $18 you’d expect a decent amount of chips & gravy but we received a handful of chips, no gravy, and a few cubes of halloumi. The location is great however they need to be more prepared for demand. Flat breads can be cooked and kept warm to serve straight away, halloumi takes no time at all to grill, and deep frying some McCain waffle chips takes around 3 min. To have to wait an hour for food truck food is not on! The food was nice enough though and I think without the wait I might have rated higher. Also important to note we weren’t the only ones waiting that long as many many customers had to follow up for their food and had also been waiting...
