A contemporary restaurant located in Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill; a regional hotel in the Mornington Peninsula area offering a set course dining experience for hotel guests as well as customers who are looking to dine only. Had the set course which included the following dishes on the day:
Sweet spanner crab covered in a smooth creamy mash potato topped with potato skin crisp and burnt puff rice which added a nice contrasting texture, finished with a burst of brininess from the salmon roe Kingfish sashimi was fresh and paired well with the sweet citrusy lemonade coulis and the light refreshing yuzu kosho pickled radish Freshly baked sourdough bread with a nice crust, butter was tasty but was not soft enough to spread on the bread Cape Grim sirloin steak was cooked medium rare; very tender and succulent, paired with a mild umami mushroom puree and some crystal ice plant which was fresh and crisp Root vegetable slaw mixed with dill and a creamy light horseradish dressing; a good palate cleanser for the steak - Baked Japanese pumpkin was soft and sweet with a nutty and earthy black sesame sauce Dessert was layered with coconut sponge, cherry compote and coconut cream, covered with nougat and iced chocolate rocks, and topped with a scoop of sweet and slightly tart cherry sorbet. Very delicious; tasted like a gourmet cherry ripe and rocky road concoction which was not too sweet
Overall a pleasant dining experience; nice interior with a warm and cozy atmosphere. Food was very tasty, enjoyed every dish. Also staff was friendly and was knowledgeable about the ingredients that goes...
Read moreMy partner and myself were very excited to dine out at a winery with a view after being locked down for months on end. Upon arriving we were very warmed and welcomed by the manager "David", he was very accommodating and made us feel at home. The dining room was exceptional, from the art and fire place to the large open view of the vineyard it was perfect. David was very attentive to our needs, he recommended some wines for my partner and some whiskeys for myself alongside some starters which were delicious. My partner had the tuna as an entree and the barramundi for her main, she is accustomed to fine dining and demands quality so to see her satisfied after her meal was a testament to the quality. I had the quail as an entree which was divine, as a main I indulged in the salmon and as you can probably guess.. it was perfect. My hats off to the chef. After our food David came over and we enjoyed some light discussion regarding wine and whiskeys of the region, he proceeded to pair us with some exceptional desert drinks alongside our creme brulee. To top off the experience, David invited us to a tour of the winery and hotel, he went well and truly above and beyond for an...
Read morePros Beautiful grounds Good wine list selection Waiters do try to accomodate The food is delicious and they include 2 x small trial food experiences which were great
Cons Very slow service (expect 3 hours) Waiter service could improve (engaging, personable) Ran out of oysters at 7:30pm dinner Small portions (entree and would include a side for the table with mains) Had to ask for bread and butter (was forgotten) Online menu has 5 choices for each; entree, main and dessert, when we arrived we only had two and were embarrassed because we had raved about the wide variety menu options.
This restaurant is definitely for the people/groups that like to take their time in enjoying the experience, atmosphere, wine and surrounding grounds. The grounds are beautiful to stroll around between courses or before and after. Bring mosquito repellent in summer.
If they improved the timings on food delivery, slightly more engaging personable service and increased menu options I think they’d definitely be a 5 star. It’s got all the elements to make a great place I’d want to...
