Beautiful day and headed out to the Yarra Valley to @TokarEstate and took up the offer for a table outside enjoying the picturesque scenery.

Smoked carrot, cashew cream, lemon crisp A tender carrot half, slight char, subtle smokey flavour which is kind of unique and elevates the ordinary carrot's sweet flavour, this pairs very well with the cashew cream which is smooth, rich, and creamy. For a textual contrast, I love the crisp which is very moreish and reminds me a bit of a bag of chips, but this crisp is so much better. Love the citrus powder. The finely chopped pistachios continue the nutty earthy theme of the dish.

Beef cheek, horseradish cream, olive herb Crispy potatoes, creme fraiche, nori salt Baby gem, herbed vinaigrette, pea tendrils

Why put a knife on the table? The beef cheek cuts like butter, super tender and oh so delicious! Each bite melts in your mouth, the deep rich flavour of the red wine it was cooked in, the flavoursome jus, wow! I also enjoyed the small crumbed dumpling with a smooth semolina mixture, Parmesan and an olive herb which is so yum.

The crispy potatoes are tasty with the slightly sour creme fraiche dressing and the greens help provide that burst of freshness. Wonderful meal.

Pina colada pannacotta, pineapple, mint, crumble A decadent rich creamy pannacotta was presented with a lovely wobble and I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. This is paired with a lovely array of tropical flavours in the pineapple pieces providing freshness, the dehydrated pineapple which is very unique and interesting, soft tapioca balls like what you find in sago, and a biscuit crumble. Excellent finish to the meal. Fantastic dining experience, beautiful scenery, excellent friendly service.

Very disappointed and feel misled. I'm vegan and rang two days ahead about possible options for my meal because we had booked a family lunch for my MIL eightieth birthday and I wanted to make sure that they could accomodate me. I appreciate that not all restaurants have the capacity nor the skills required to cook good vegan food so I wanted to see whether I needed to eat in advance ( which is something I've done before) They.assured me that they will accommodate my request. When I arrived on the day, they assured me once again that they will give me a vegan equivalent for the feed me menu which was $90. In good faith, I accepted but soon realised that they weren't really going to accommodate me. They gave me vegan alternatives for only half the meals and expected me to to content with sharing a couple of the vegan side dishes with everyone else for most of the main. For example, the salmon, trout, chicken and lamb was replaced with some gnocchi swimming in unseasoned Passata and boiled kale. They brought out salad and cauliflower side dishes for everyone and expected me to be full on these without any main. When I questioned them, I was told "the side dishes are vegan". I don't know what's worse, the fact that I rang ahead and they lied to me that they will accommodate me when they clearly wouldn't or that they charged me the same as everyone else. I feel scammed and won't...

My recent experience at Tokar Estate for lunch was truly a great experience. We opted for the three-course menu, which included an entree, main course, and dessert, all for $85. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny. The food was not only delicious but also offered incredible value for the price. By the end of the meal, I walked away feeling both satisfied and stuffed.

We had the pleasure of enjoying duck sausage, lamb steak tartare, white zucchini with mozzarella curds and sardine escabeche for entree. The flavours were exquisite and beyond our expectations. Moving on to the main course, we were served grilled beef rump, Kingfish accompanied by a delightful salad and perfectly cooked potatoes. The potatoes were the highlight for me, with a crispy outside and a fluffy yet firm inside. As for the beef, it was simply perfect - smoky, charred on the outside, and tender medium-rare on the inside.

The overall experience at Tokar Estate was exceptional. The beautiful surroundings, lively yet peaceful ambiance, and superb hospitality created a truly memorable afternoon. The food was not only delicious but also of top-notch quality, presented nicely, and showcased fresh produce.

I highly recommend Tokar Estate as a venue to relax and enjoy a wonderful lunch. The menu is accessible, and the portions are generous, ensuring that you leave both satisfied and with a memorable...

We visited Tokar Estate for the Cuvée Chocolate x Tokar Estate Tasting Experience, a carefully curated pairing of four single-vineyard wines with Master Chocolatier Deniz Karaca’s stone-ground chocolates. Please note that the following tasting notes are based on my personal experience—keep an open mind when you visit! • 2023 Coldstream Vineyard Chardonnay × Bianco 30% white chocolate – This was the best pairing for me. The creamy white chocolate complemented the Chardonnay beautifully. • 2023 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, Yarra Junction × Soleo 42% milk chocolate – I’m not a big milk chocolate fan, so this wasn’t my favorite, but the wine itself was pleasant. • 2021 Amphora Reserve Tempranillo × Amphora 65% dark chocolate – I expected more bitterness, but even at 65%, the chocolate felt too sweet, and the pairing didn’t quite match for me. • 2018 Coldstream Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon × Grand Cru 75% extra dark chocolate – I found this wine a bit too dry for my taste, though it had good structure. That said, Mrs. Tokar guided us through the experience beautifully, sharing the background story of Tokar Estate, which added a personal and intimate touch. The setting was lovely and cozy, with gorgeous vineyard views. The only slight letdown was the wine with the watermelon frozen component, but overall, we really enjoyed our visit!
