A real let down. Insufferable owner. Average food. Overpriced.
I booked this venue for my post wedding celebration with a group of 10 friends. For the price, we expected both a warmer reception and better food. From the moment we walked in we were met with rudeness and hostility by the owner.
When my friends greeted me excitedly, we were told coldly by the owner to quiet down so as not to disturb the other guests. There were 2 other tables with guests and noone noticed the noise. We were then told to order quickly as we were running late to order (by 30 min). We stayed for 4 hours and the place was half empty the entire time.
The scollop entree was tasty but reports about the fish was that it was thin with some peoples being also full of bones. The extremely thick cut of beef was bland and not tender at all.
*RESPONSE TO OWNERS REPLY: What I had stated when booking is that I had cancelled the booking at the other winery because I wanted a more boutique experience. I said I was reluctant to say it was a "hens" because we are all in our late 30s and mature enough not make a scene. I described it to you as more of a celebratory get together with friends. Unfortunately you werent listening and hence saw the one moment of excitement when my friends arrived as a great opportunity to scold us.
9 arrived because one was sick. Your attitude when I mentioned that one of our guests couldnt make it was unappreciated.
Update: Sure, feel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited Treand Winery in Baxter today and were extremely disappointed. The noise level inside was unbearableāso loud that we couldnāt hear ourselves think. The acoustics were shocking, unlike anything weāve ever experienced at a restaurant. Despite being told the noise was due to the Christmas season, the space wasnāt even full, and thereās simply no excuse for it to be that bad. To escape the chaos, we decided to sit outside. It was a really hot day, but we hoped it would be quieter and more pleasant. We ordered dessert and coffee, but the coffee was undrinkable, so hot we couldnāt touch it for ages, and when we could, it tasted more like warm milk than coffee. We politely brought it to their attention and requested a replacement, but instead of an apology or understanding, the owner came out and unpleasantly insisted it was a ānormal coffee.ā The tone was rude and dismissive, which made the experience even worse. The food was just okay, but it was significantly overpriced for what it was. Unfortunately, the unwelcoming attitude of the staff (actually I think it was the owner) and the unbearable noise completely overshadowed any positives. The friend I was with, who had previously been a fan, said sheāll never go backāand neither will I. If youāre considering visiting Treand Winery, Iād strongly recommend...

The reviews and ratings are so high here and we did see that people were thoroughly enjoying their meals there. It must be that we are spoilt for choices for wineries and dining options in Melbourne that it missed the mark here for us. The standout here was the cosy family-feel vibe of the vineyard. It was comfortable and unpretentious which is always enjoyable. The dishes were nicely presented however lacked depth of flavour, not memorable enough to entice a return visit. Unfortunately the service was lacking on the day we were there. It was a full house and they were well-staffed, it was just hard to get their attention to order our menu items, and then again to order drinks. I suppose at $100+ per person lunch for a small restaurant, the expectation is that the service is attentive at the very least. Has great potential but unfortunately won't be in a...
