Baxter Fish And Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

our local fish and chip shop was taken over just recently and we were very disappointed in the product from the new owners. The other night we were craving fish and chips but there was no way i was going back to the local so we looked up reviews in the area - Baxter fish and chips had good reviews so we thought we would give it a go. Well - i have to tell you, without doubt - these were the best we have ever had!!! My wife is still raing about them 3 days later!! the Potato Cakes were chock full of potato, the Fish was to die for and the Scollops......oh my my, simply amazing, and the batter - i dont know what they use but it is amazing. I reckon if i moved to Coburg i would drive over to Baxter to buy em. Do yourself a favour and give this place a go, i'm just sorry it has taken us this long. 10 stars if...

Ordered take away, food took about 20 mins which is not bad for a Friday evening. Staff incredibly friendly and polite. Food was hit and miss. Batter was nice and crispy. However had 3 bones in a piece of flake which is disappointing, made us nervous to give any fish to the children. Also chicken salt was just shaken over the top of the whole meal, so the fish had heaps of flavour but the chips underneath were very plain. We stopped here on our way home yesterday, it was almost closing time so we almost expected to be told we couldn’t order but it was the absolute opposite. We were met with the friendliest smile and conversation, the customer service was outstanding! The fish & everything we ordered was so delicious. The whole shop was super clean and organised and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there ( I think it’s family run? ) Would absolutely recommend going here, you don’t get much customer service like this anymore!...
