Seagrove Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Merriwa

I'm embarrassed to say that it has taken me far too long to write a review for this restaurant even though it is a must-do whenever family come to visit. Whether a large family reunion or a small takeaway order for two, this location is one of the best I have ever been to. In all the years I have lived in this part of the world, I have never encountered a meal that has disappointed me. Even extended family and friends have travelled from as far as Albany to dine here and have requested takeaway orders to bring with us on our next visit.

The set-up is best suited to larger groups – order a selection of dishes to share and there will always be something to delight each person.

I cannot speak highly enough of both the kitchen and service staff, all of whom are professional and exacting and never given us cause for complaint.

For the more well-travelled diners, you may find that the range of menu items is hardly “authentic” but as conventional Australianised Chinese food goes, you would have to look hard for anything to complain about.

Starting with the positive. Young lady who took the order on the phone was very polite and got the order correct and on time. On collection she checked that food ordered was all in the bag and again was very polite. Absolute asset to the restaurant. Unfortunately that's where the positive ended. Honey king prawns where soggy, the soggy batter feel off 80% of the prawns. Boneless lemon chicken was overcooked to the extent that parts of it was so dry and hard that it seemed like it had little bits of sharp bone in it. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Lemon sauce was thick and gluggy with very little lemon flavour. Sweet and sour pork, pork itself was cooked nicely but again no flavour at all in the sauce.
