OK Pie Shop — Restaurant in Mount Gambier

So unfortunately in this instance, the name is an indicator of the food…yes, there were a decent assortment of pies on offer & yes, I was greeted by a friendly person more than happy to answer my questions. Also, I can’t fault the pastry on either of the 2 pies or the roll we got. Unfortunately the pies were just as the establishment…well…established! They were OK…we got a mushroom (mince & mushroom) & a cheese & bacon. Sadly they were eerily similar, I’d say 90% mince beef with only a sprinkle of mushroom & then cheese & bacon on top. So I’m reluctant to say but the pies were hi hum…therefore OK. Gladly the kransky roll was Yum! Same buttery flaky pastry but there was a whole kransky inside & it had a relish surprise inside, which was far more evident than the mushrooms or the cheese &...

Food was dreadful and coffee was scolding.

Ordered a quiche and a pastie. The egg in the quiche was watery, which detracted from the other ingredients and created an unpleasant texture. I couldn't stomach more than a couple bites. The pastie looked visually impressive from the outside, but the filling was bland and tasteless, akin to a supermarket frozen pastie. Also found a piece of a corn cob with no kernels attached within it, likewise couldn't tolerate a few bites.

After a visit several months ago and getting served scolding hot coffee, I actually advised on the temperature I preferred this time. Yet, again, got served a scolding coffee.

I ordered the traditional meat pie and my partner ordered a curry pie. Both were undercooked, the pastry was soft and the base was unbaked and doughy. The filling was nice. I took the pies back to the lady who served us she was rude but we were offered a refund. The coffee came and was one of the worst coffees I had ever had, the foam was just bubbles, not thick foam like you expect. Service was a little unpleasant and impolite.

The sweet baked goods were simple but tasty.

Wouldn't recommend anyone...
