Buk Choy Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in New South Wales

What the owners of this restaurant need to decide, is, whether they want to just do Menu Log or Menu Log and patrons sitting in their restaurant. Great to see they are busy with takeaways, but don’t forget those sitting in the restaurant. When asking if we could have a table for 3, we were taken straight in and given a table, which was great. There weren’t many people when we got in. Our meals took an hour to come out and that’s probably cause we were asking if they were coming. We weren’t told there was a long wait. Other tables were also asking where their food was. There was only 2 girls out the front, who were run off their feet doing the best they could. They say they are Authentic Thai, I think they need to revisit this, as there were ingredients missing from our dishes which were on the menu. You might say we should have said something, but we had already waited long enough. Meals were only average and trust me, we love Thai food and pretty much only eat this when eating...

Outstanding food, excessive wait.

We were ready to write this place off after ordering and paying and then being told it would be 20 minutes for our takeaway order to be ready, only to wait over an hour!! Plus other people who ordered after my husband and I, got their food before us! I was pretty annoyed and let the staff know they need to advise people up front how long the wait is. All the other customers waiting for takeaway and the dine in were making the same comments so we were not alone.

However, when we finally got our order and got home to eat it, we were blown away with the freshness, flavours and home madeness - even the money bags where seemingly made from scratch as opposed to store bought.

It was due to the quality of the food that we would order at Buk Choy again but on busy nights eg weekends you need to do so well in advance and don’t expect equitable queuing (ie first, in best dressed).

I cannot even begin to explain how good this food is. Myself and my partner will only order Thai/Lao food from here.

We are slowly making our way through the menu, trying a new dish each time and every time we are like “how does this place just keep getting better”

I’ve been to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia and not had south East Asian food like this place, which is a testament to the authenticity of every dish. You taste the love that goes into the food. From the lovely ladies at the front counter who are continuously kind to the magic that goes on in the kitchen, 5 stars isn’t even enough to rate this wonderful restaurant.
