Disappointing but could have been great!
We had checked out the tapas menu in the morning and were really looking forward to an evening of tapas with a bottle of red. The service was terrible. Neglectful and clumsy. Annoying things like bringing our drinks separately....they brought my cocktail then asked would my partner like a glass with his beer then ducking away to get both items...just bring both!
They brought two open bottles of red to show us the selection then left us so long we were about to drink them! My partner eventually got up to get their attention and they were surprised. When we did order the wine it turned out they had 3 bottles that were opened, none opened. But didn't immediately present that the other bottle as available. Our bread arrived and the waiter clumsily asked where we wanted it...there was a very clear space on the table!
That was then it for about 20 mins as we watched dish after dish come out for the table behind us that had arrived and ordered after us....argh!! Eventually one of our 6 dishes came then a gap and no sign of the others for ages then another two. When we asked about the dish speed table anomoly we were informed that they had nine dishes coming and it was tapas so it should come slowly. By then we'd finished our bottle of red and were past it.
Two of the three dishes we did try were delicious and we were disappointed not to have had the full experience as we cancelled the rest.
The evening started with some gentle music throughout the dining area but at some point they switched to 90s rock just in the kitchen.
Get some training in...
Read moreDi Matteos is dropping the ball. My. Husband and I visited for the third time this year. The first time, we had lovely service and were pleased with our order. This bought us back a second time. On our second visit we ordered the same two meals since they were so great the first time. The Bacon & Egg Turkish arrived on a small white bun, not Turkish bread. At our third visit, this morning, I asked when ordering the Bacon & Egg Turkish if it would be served on Turkish bread. I was told it would, however, it didn’t. I also ordered a biscuit which never arrived and when I enquired about it I was questioned as if I was lying. The service was the most displeasing part of our breakfast. While the price is reasonable, I think we may choose The Pantry only a few metres up the road...
Read moreI had a truly disappointing experience at this cafe. My family, who are Asian, arrived on a Sunday morning with a group of 12. Though we didn't have a reservation, we politely asked if they could accommodate us. Despite there being a large, empty table available, we were told they were "fully booked" and couldn't seat us. What made it worse was seeing other white customers walk in and grabbing seats with no issue as half the cafe was still empty when we left.
We ended up standing outside for 20 minutes just to get takeaway coffee, and when we finally received it. The whole situation felt incredibly unwelcoming, and frankly, the service seemed discriminatory. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent place to dine or a...
