FAT Freddy's Fish Bar Take Away. — Restaurant in New South Wales

The food here can be awesome, but it is a bit inconsistent. Have had brilliant fish and chips here, but a few too many times, the batter has been really unpleasantly oily and the fish hasn't tasted great - this usually happens when they're busy, and I get it, the oil doesn't stay hot enough when you're cooking lots, but it's still really disappointing.

The other thing that's really inconsistent is their desserts - it's like they make them with a different recipe each week, so you never know what you're going to get. I've had them range from almost inedibly sweet, to the cheesecakes which sometimes almost feel like you're eating plain cream cheese with no sweetening!

On the plus side, the chips are always fantastic, and they have really yummy tofu chips too, for those who want something different.

The people are also lovely (except the one grumpy girl that's sometimes at the register who couldn't smile to save her life), and the food can certainly be great, it's just not guaranteed. If you see it's busy, maybe give it a miss, and don't...

The first few times I went there wasn't too bad the chips were really nice soft in the middle yet still crunchy and the service was great but lately theres been more then a few times that I've gone there and they've charged us for our meal but forgot our gravy/ chicken salt or potato scallops which I know doesn't sound like much and I shouldn't be complaining but when I pay for something I kinda want it's worth and paying for gravy and not receiving it is very frustrating and not to mention the service lately has been a little slack because I have ask multiple times to separate the fish from the chips as I do not like it but my partner does and they have not done it in the past they have so maybe it's just a new person and they don't understand but when a girls hungry it's hard to not get mad, sorry for the long and not so great review I do know that it is probably just a new person getting used to the place and hopefully they'll improve but at the moment the food/service...

18th December 2021. Positives=Very tasty Barramundi and chips, Negatives=callamari was a little undercooked,prawns were a little bit burnt,not very good value for money. 19th December 2021,bought dinner here again tonight,we bought 2 fish burgers and 2 small chips. Positives=It was much better value for money than the previous night,the small chips were equivalent to a medium chips from other take away stores I've been to and the fish burger was delicious,the bread roll was fresh,the salad and fish were great and they added the perfect amount of sauce. Negatives=When I called up to make my order a teenage girl answered and did not know how to let me make a payment over the phone,She asked for my card details twice.When I went in to collect our food they forgot one of our small chips and had to cook them for us while our other food cooled down a little.
