As a local organic edible flower grower, I have had the pleasure of supplying organic edible flowers to Kew Dining for 4 years. I love how Lawry and Wendy use the flowers and they both understand and embrace the concept of sustainability. Anyone can place a flower on a plate but Lawry and the team take the time to carefully pair each dish with the right flower, to create a unique culinary experience!
The last several years have been a huge challenge to all us farmers! From droughts, to fires and then floods- it's people like Lawrie and Wendy, that understand and support us through thick and thin. So I wanted to give them a special shout out. I couldn't do what I do without their continued support and excitement over our flowers.
Recently, I read that a customer had found an ant in their dish- I'm sorry to hear that. This is the first time in 4 years that such feedback has been offered. I do understand how that may feel. But I also want to remind everyone that we are ORGANIC!! That means no nasty chemicals or carcinogenic compounds or unsustainable fertilisers. As unfortunate as an odd insect may be- please know that we do our absolute best to ensure that there are no cheeky ants or lady beetles in our flowers but they do love crawling in and making cute little homes out of the flowers sometimes. We grow for biodiversity and seeing them reminds us of how we care for nature. So I do ask, what would you prefer? A very, very rare sighting of the odd ant or a plate full of chemicals?
Keep doing what you do KEW DINING. Thanks for your...
Read moreToday I had the unfortunate experience of high tea at Kew Dinning.
So first course of the high tea ($55 per person) was garnished with fresh flowers that contained SPIDERS, ANTS and nervous other BUG. After taking a few times to flag down the staff who were not very attentive I finally gained service and advised we had a few extra bug additions to the plate. This is when the wait staff took the plate to the side reviewed and removed bugs and then returned the item to our table advising these were flowers picked from there garden out the front of the property and pointed to the central coast highway garden and flower beads that lined the car park.
We then moved to the second course and yes this included a fly trap and fly. When I advised the waitstaff again that I cannot eat food containing bugs the staff then removed this from the table and did not offer or replace the item.
I then asked for a cup of tea to have with my cake and was told no I am unable to have a cup of tea until the next course and my options for this course were wine, juice or water and that I need to wait till the next course for a cup of tea. .
Very disappointed at the quality of food and service not to mention the additional guests at the table. I wonât...
Read moreAbsolutely AMAZING High Tea at Kew Dining yesterday !!!! I have had a few High Teas in my time and I can safely say this was the best by far.
Top quality, fresh ingredients, cooked and presented to perfection! Lovely, welcoming and friendly service by the young staff members from start to finish! (I do find these days you donât always get very good customer service, but this team were all over it !)
The scenery is modern, comfortable and pleasant.
The Moroccan starter soup with crumbled haloumi - OMG đ
And thereâs nothing like a sandwhich made by someone else, on super fresh and thick cut bread with delicious egg filings and cream cheese and cucumber.
Throw in a little palette cleanser before the sweets came out, what a refreshing addition.
And the fluffiest, freshest, nice and warm and very tasty scones was a perfect way to finish - paired with jam and cream of course ! đ
Thank you Kew Dining for being so accommodating with our gift vouchers as well, it is greatly appreciated !
Do not even consider going anywhere else for a high tea !! I cannot wait to...
