MACH ONE RESTAURANT & BAR — Restaurant in New South Wales

I recently stayed at the Mercure Hotel at Newcastle Airport and ordered room service from their in-house restaurant, Mach 1. While the restaurant itself has a fairly low-key atmosphere and didn’t feel particularly inviting for dining in, the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay.

I opted for room service instead and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the beef carpaccio and the pork chop—both dishes were well-prepared and full of flavour. The carpaccio was fresh and nicely presented, while the pork chop was juicy and cooked just right.

Order: Medium Scotch fillet Steak mushroom sauce, chips and salad. Pork buns Furphy

Steak came out on the medium-rare side which I often expect. The steak was juicy and perfectly cooked in my opinion. The salad was an excellent fat compliment to the steak. The chips were crunchy on the outside and soft inside... Better than lots of fish and chips joints. Will definitely order a large separate side of chips next time.

The pork buns had a lot of flavour and were mostly delightful however the bun had some hardened spots which were slightly stale. Overall not too bad considering they're probably not ordered that much.
