Dirty and disappointing. We were seated in the outdoor area. Scones were dumped in a cheap takeaway box on a table meters away from us. Tea was in a flimsy takeaway cup, too strong, milk already added. We would have had better food and service at a cart at a train station. Table was dirty. Chairs had not been wiped in a long time. The place was littered with food trash that had not been removed. We had to walk around and find our own (cheap) cutlery in cardboard boxes. The garden was overgrown, full of abandoned furniture and not a place our toddler could even walk in safely. Toilet block is right next to that dirty toddler chair in the photos. The owner responded that we were 'made aware' that we ordered takeway, so basically it is our fault. That is not what happened. We arrived and asked to be seated, went through the whole vaccine check for the whole family, and were told 'you can sit outside.' It was very confusing, and there were not enough people at the front to serve the long line of customers waiting. We assumed the only place they had for us to be seated was outside, or perhaps it was a covid social distance measure, or perhaps they did not want our toddler to be inside with other guests If we thought we were only getting takeway, we would not have gone to the trouble of checking our child in. The point of the review is that the place was dirty and not family friendly. Even if we had only ordered takeway (which was not our intention) the outdoor area had not been cleaned for a long time and there was a lot of rusted and dirty stuff lying around. The owners garden was mowed and pretty, but that was on the other side of the fence - visitors get the dumping area

We are really looking forward to dined in this place since the location is in the Middle of the Valley surrounded with good mountain views. Driving down to megalong is something that I can say another experience as you’ll have to drive down and have a good view of the forest. We arrived in the restaurant 9:15am and they’re opening hours is from 9am-5pm. We immediately take the menu and ordered our food. They have wide options to choose from and they have food items that is only offered on the day such us the Soup and Specials. We ordered, Megalong Big Breakfast and Bacon and Egg (Recommended). the Meg Big Breakfast can be shared by 2pp as its really alot for 1 person. The bacon and egg tastes good and enough to keep you full for the rest of the morning. We ordered, hot chocolates as our morning drinks and taste really good together with the marshmallows on the side. What we really after here is to eat and have an spectacular view from the outside of the restaurant which we are well satisfied!! Good weather plus good food and good view make our day more special. You can also go around the area and take photo as the place has farm at the back. We enjoyed our stay here and we are indeed looking forward to come back again! Location is in Magalong Valley road access from Blackheath NSW.

I have regularly visited the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms for over 20 years and was keen to experience this old favorite now that it is under new management. There were several positive changes including a significantly expanded menu, refreshed dining area, wheelchair access and outdoor table service. We had planned on having lunch but unfortunately the prices were just too expensive for serious consideration. Some examples: Ham, cheese & tomoto sandwich was $18. A sausage roll was $17:50 and pies were $19:50. Instead we opted for the scones with cream and jam for $10:50 that this tea house is famous for. Sadly they have both changed the recipe aswell as reducing the scone serving from 3 to 2 (albeit with slightly larger scones). They were nice, but not as good as before. The service was excellent, being very fast and friendly and the coffee was excellent. Upon paying the bill they imposed a fixed fee $1 credit card surcharge despite this now being against regulations. Overall I was disappointed, but that may be a result of expectation vs reality. I have such a fond attachment to this location and I will go back at some time to give it another go but given the abundance of great food options back up the road at Blackheath I really hope it delivers.

We were excited to see the Tea Rooms opened & were looking forward to sitting in the picnic area to enjoy some late lunch. We waited at the stop sign while 4 people before us were deciding their wine & lunch choice. Where we were waiting there was no menu visible just the stop sign & distancing regulations posted. I walked past the one menu sign posted on the balcony ordering area. I thought there would be a menu at the counter as all other cafes do but when I enquired I was abruptly told I had to go back to the outside area to look at the menu. I asked could you just tell me the sandwich menu & was very aggressively told there are too many to tell me. (This is the owner of the premises). The young man serving me, apologetically told me the 4 sandwich types. I even explained I had difficulty reading the posted menu, I wear glasses, so obviously I have vision impairment.

While waiting for my order I explained to the young girl delivering my drinks how embarrassing the situation was & that the owner was very rude. He then came out onto the balcony to verbally abuse me. The woman standing next to me was also embarrassed by this whole situation & told me she wouldn’t be back & to not let it upset me.

I will not be back. The owner tried to blame COV19 restrictions but placing a menu at the order counter has NO impact on...
