Moonshine Coffee Federal — Restaurant in New South Wales

I like a double ristretto it's shot of espresso, but with a much shorter extraction time and a smaller final volume...100% pretentious coffee order so I go where the coffee is good. I have been around and I get around, I don't have allegiance to anyone outlet or any barista, a coffee slut, if you will.

But I drive, of a morning, in the opposite direction to work, avoiding pot holes, fallen trees, speeding tradies and my wife saying "Are you buying coffee out again?!" specifically to go Moonshine to get THE BEST double ris around!

The staff are always welcoming and somehow find the time to make me feel like I am actually funny. My wife who doesn't drink coffee gets what could be described as the best a spicy cacao in the shire (ironically more expensive than my small coffee order, but that's fine). All that said, it's more about the small friendly, community vibe that you get welcomed into as well. You can't really quantify that.

If I could go 10 star...

Beware of the rude and obnoxious barista who is never wrong. Made my coffee with full cream milk when I asked for oat then I had to pay for another one (12 dollar coffee) because he insisted that I got it wrong, even though the three people I was with heard me order an oat milk coffee. In between making the second coffee, he slammed fridge doors, was trying to be physically intimidating and made it known it was not his fault. Totally disgusting behaviour. Moonshine, Federal - the drive up from Byron Bay is like going through a portal into another even greener world of peace and tranquility and, at the end of that road, is the best little coffee house in what must be one of Australia’s smallest country towns. Moonshine - just a shed with a specialty roaster and a lot of soul (and delicious sweet treats).
