As a loyal and regular customer of Six String Brewing Co., Iâd like to share my honest feedback after yet another visit to one of our favorite spots. My friend and I are almost weekly visitors . we love the atmosphere, we enjoy the beers, and most of all, we truly appreciate the incredible staff who always greet us with warm smiles and fantastic service. From front of house to bar staff, the entire crew is genuinely friendly and welcoming, which keeps us coming back every time. Their service always makes us feel valued, and itâs clear that customer experience is a top priority for them.
That said, I do feel itâs time to mention something that has become a consistent issue during our visits â the food. While everything else about the venue has met or even exceeded expectations, unfortunately, the quality and consistency of the food has repeatedly fallen short.
Last night, I ordered the roast pork knuckle, which I was really looking forward to. Sadly, it arrived burnt â not just a little crispy, but the skin was inedible. I wasnât the only one, either. There were three of us in our group who ordered the pork knuckle, and all three servings were burnt in the same way. It was disappointing, especially considering the price point and the anticipation we had. I approached your staff about it, and they were very apologetic and professional. To their credit, they offered us a free jug of beer as a goodwill gesture, which we appreciated. However, to be honest, I would have preferred a refund for the food itself, as I couldnât eat most of the meal.
This isnât the first time weâve experienced issues with the food, which is why I felt it was important to finally share this feedback. Over several visits â whether for a quick lunch, dinner, or special occasion â the food has always been the weakest link. Sometimes itâs the temperature, sometimes itâs the preparation or presentation, but something consistently feels rushed or overlooked in the kitchen.
As a passionate supporter of Six String and someone who recommends it often to friends, itâs frustrating to have to brace ourselves for potential food disappointment each time. The venue deserves better, and I believe the customers do too. With such a strong team on the floor and amazing beers brewed in-house, the food should complement the overall experience â not detract from it.
This review is not meant to be a complaint, but a sincere piece of constructive feedback. I hope it reaches the kitchen team and management. I say all this not as a critic, but as a regular customer who genuinely wants to see this place continue to thrive and live up to its full potential.
To end on a positive note: the beer is always top-notch, the vibe is unbeatable, and the crew are absolutely the best. Iâll definitely be back â just hoping next time the food is finally up to the same great standard as the rest of the venue.

Read moreAs long term Coasties, we came in with high hopes. We assumed some of the issues with the original Six String would be fixed (small, slow service). We assumed the experience would be closer to the Hawkesbury Brewing Co (large, lots of entertainment, fast and delicious food, great service).
We were two adults and one child. We had a kids burger, two chicken skewers and the Crispy Pork Platter for $61.14.
Positives first. $32 is very good value for a whole pork knuckle and it was falling off the bone. The beer is delicious (I recommend the Hazy). The staff were friendly and professional. Everything was clean.
Seating is an issue. There isn't a lot and downstairs is mostly small tables with high seats. We didn't realise there were some proper tables upstairs. The table we had was too small for food and drinks. We had to finish our drinks quickly to fit everything once the food arrived.
Wait time was our major issue. It was 40 mins before our first dish arrived and an hour before we had all our food.
There is no child friendly entertainment. The original Six String had lots to look at, plus a free arcade machine. So even though the wait was long it passed quickly. But this new location has nothing to look at and nothing to do (except drink).
As a suggestion to the staff: even though your pork knuckle is beautiful, we still need more than a butter knife to cut it and the corn cob that came with it. More sides for the amount of meat would have helped, as the meat in the middle had no flavour. More sauce and access to salt would also help. And consider a differenr type of plate.
Ultimately, we won't be back. They didn't keep the good parts of the original Six String but did keep all the issues. And both are not nearly as fast, tasty and family friendly as Hawkesbury.
That Hazy really was...
Read moreWe came here on Saturday the 14th of June with a few of the local dads from our kids school, and I was excited to try this place out as itâs our new local.
First Iâll start with the good
Food was excellent, they said it was going to take 30min as they had heaps of orders but it was served very fast much to our surprise. I had the smash burger and it was excellent đ
Beer was good đ
Now the not so good
We sat inside but after the band inside was so loud upstairs we had to move outside, you literally couldnât hear anything (Apparently it was only a sound check that seemed to go for about 30-45min). After getting outside it was much quieter and we asked the bar staff if they could start the heater as sun was setting and it was getting cold. We were told that they couldnât as the gas bottle was empty, we reminded them that luckily next door was a BP (15 steps away) but they refused again, and then we even offered to pay for the swap and go which again was also refused.
After migrating back inside once the cold was too much we settled in for a few beers then the bar lady said we were getting too rowdy, we explained we were talking loudly to hear ourselves over the music upstairs that no one was listening too (see photo) besides a few band members up the back of the area. Apprently laughing and having fun was not allowed either.
Anyways I hope this feedback helps as I think the overall atmosphere, food and...
