First night open for dinner. Limited menu: three pasta, couple of burgers, chicken parmigiana, Thai beef salad and may be one of two others plus half a dozen pizzas. We weren't in the mood for a pizza tonight. No entrées, although none of us wanted one and no desserts, although again we didn't need any. The 'sticky bun' cabinet (pastries, tarts, muffins etc.) was available. This usually empties quickly during mornings & lunch. We were in early at 18:00 and while not full there were several tables occupied, one group of about 12 being the largest. Because it's a large space with some white painted brick walls it is quite a noisy place BUT no muzak, hooray! Too many places naturally noisy due to size, bare walls, high ceilings etc., do insist on muzak. Conversation was easy, unlike a few other local eating places. We enjoyed our meals: a fettucine carbonara (very nice, mushrooms in particular fresh and not over-done); one Angel hair pasta with prawns, I think. Apparently this while nice was slightly bland and the consumer said they would have liked a sprinkling of Parmesan. This may have been available but the eater did not bother asking and enjoyed the dish anyway. The third dish was the Thai Beef salad which must have been good as it disappeared quickly. The servings size was on the slightly generous side but not wasteful. We were satisfied enough not to need any dessert or pastry. One red wine and a Peroni beer rounded it all off. Service as ever was efficient and friendly. We will be back to try dinner again. The pizzas on the menu will be worth trying. And we'll pop in for coffee and the occasional lunch as we've done a few times. Well...
Read moreHad lunch here on a Saturday. They had no record of a reservation we had made earlier in the week, but a table in the corner was found for us. I was excited that the menu said they do breakfast until 2 and lunch/ dinner from 11 - if only it weren't a lie. When i tried to order from the lunch/dinner menu I was told they "don't serve dinner until after 5" 😑 Trying very hard to enjoy my time out with family I quickly picked a breakfast item and tried to move on... Imagine how annoyed I was when someone else at my table was then served a chicken schnitzel after I was refused a parma. Staff just didn't seem to know what they were doing, and the person taking orders had to check EVERYTHING before he could answer any questions. Additionally, three of the four poached eggs on the table were extremely overcooked (chalky) and one was undercooked. Over all a very poor and disappointing experience! Only giving two stars rather than one as I have only been once and would HOPE it's not always this bad (FYI we walked in at 11:30 and ordered at...
Read moreFood was good but not so much better than everything around that i wouldn't drive an extra kilometer down the road for something else, but would much rather eat here based on it's closer. Only problem was the service, had a slight issue with the meal which was resolved after asking about it and it was all good but the waitress made it seem like such an inconvenience which came across rude. So considering its not the cheapest venue I'd expect not to feel awkward asking staff for assistance, would come back but if the service team had the same gloomy attitude I'd proberly just go further down the road for something else. Maybe they were having a bad day but shouldn't be an excuse really. Below is a picture of a tiny egg with no yolk lol. Just wanted a normal size egg, which we did...
