Maddz on York — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

The food was excellent & priced as expected for what it was & the area. Between us we had the big breakfast, the waffles & the breakfast tacos as well as an iced coffee, a latte & a smoothie. The staff are lovely & even though they were busy the food didn't take that long in the grand scheme of things. The younger ones do tend to ignore dirty tables for as long as they can though (possibly in the hope that someone else will sort it out) so we sat at a table covered in crumbs & stickiness for about 10 minutes before someone popped over to clean it.

Unfortunately the noise in there really lets them down. You not only have to compete with the general chatter from other tables, but also the coffee machine, the staff chatting amongst themselves & whatever god awful music they have playing way too loud for such a small space. Have visited Maddz a couple of times now, and have been impressed every time. This morning, I opted for the Big Breakfast and oh my days, it wasn't big, it was bloody humongous! I wish I had taken a photo, as I couldn't believe the size of it when it arrived to our table. Service was friendly and quick, and everything was cooked perfectly. Probably the biggest 'big breakfast' I have ever had from anywhere. The plate was literally filled to the brim with all the goodness you want in a big brekky - eggs your way, bacon, chorizo, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, hash browns, and toast of your choice. It was outstanding value, and the quality of the food itself was excellent. Just what I needed on a fresh and windy winter's morning. Would thoroughly recommend this place for anyone wanting a hearty breakfast in a relaxed setting, served with a smile. Will be back again in...

The staff are super friendly, coffee is good and they also make delicious sweet treats! My favourite dishes so far have been the cheese cake stuffed French toast (this was on special), breakfast tacos & grilled chicken burger! All good is delicious tho!
