Bertie's Cafe — Restaurant in Nimmitabel

Called in this morning for coffee on recommendation from a friend. Had very good coffee at the Cafe and purchased the soup of the day, (pumpkin and kumara) and 2 pies and a sausage roll to have later. Had the soup and sausage roll for lunch, both were scrumptious. We have just finished eating the pies for our dinner, 1 plain, 1 beef and mushroom. So delicious, so very obviously home made with love and care, much better than any bakery pie we have eaten. This is my second visit to this struggling cafe in a small village with two lunch stops. I had home made cottage pie; it was just fair fare; it lacked natural flavours. Then I had home-made apple pie; ummm, just the same. Coffee was ordinary too. Not wheelchair accessible. Very much old style cottage toilets were not very pleasant, poor accessability.
