Response to owner: There was no profanity from my side at all thank you i may have raised my voice when i addressed manager for being so disrespectful (i have witnesses to this) as i said the manger spun her own story to owner to cover herself from my complaint against her before i could even place it!... the fish sizes from this store are usually approximately 20+cm in length & what i received was less than 10cm in length!! & i have been paying $16 for my crumbed snapper here for at least 12mnths from this shop.. so owner is now lying in order to side with & protect her lying & disrespectful manager in response to my review here rather than making any effort to contact me to address my complaint in a professional manner! & owner has now accused me of me profanity without any proof other than what her lying manger has said to her. My kids had no choice but to eat yukky half hour old chips (which i blame menulog driver for) & i barely got half a fish fillet for dinner & this owner respone here shows just how much they actually care about...

Quality has gone down hill they are nothing like they used to be .... also they employ way to many junior staff that have no idea what they are doing edit 14/06/2025 thought I would give them another order go after being a long time , ordered grilled Barra half serve chips steak burger with the lot , told 15.mins till ready 45 minutes had to ask where my food is mean while 10 minutes earlier seen a customer comeback as was handed wrong order , , so my had wrongly handed out , and when I was handed my order it was stone cold as was sitting out the back as was mistakenly handed out previously they only offered to recook the chips only and not the entire order , so i got my money back instead , absolutely disgusting customers service , the manger wouldn't even apologise as preferred to stay hiding in the kitchen and instead leaving a junior staff to relay messages , the place has gone downhill bad it used ta be top quality now it's over priced crap ......

Ballantynes is pretty much the heart of Palmerston's Fish and chip Market, they've been around for years and have always delivered us a decent feed on the cheap.

Due to the popularity of the shop, it does tend to get busy and orders do get pushed back and wait times exceed what was originally suggested. However, the quality of the food is usually pretty good and worth the wait.

On rare occasions we will be sent a fish that is overcooked, a potato cake that's under-cooked and some over salted chips. But on those rare occasions the rest of the order is satisfactory.

The store could do with a revamp at some stage, it's starting to look a bit dated and the outside of the building, whoever owns the body corp needs to take better care of the lot. It's starting to...
