Gap View Hotel has been my favourite location since a child. Yesterday was my daughters 13th Birthday and I had decided to celebrate by the pool with family and friends, the kids can swim and have fun whilst waiting to have dinner. We called before going and asked if we can have the birthday cake placed in the fridge, staff said that was fine. I arrived and ordered drinks for the kids ,I would have liked a Tooheys Extra dry stubby but was informed of a NO GLASS POLICY by the pool. I opted to a can of Jim. Beam. We proceeded out to the pool area. Ten minutes later my mother and her sister arrived with my 8 yr old niece whom was refused entry by the( Maori female bar attendant )in as she had no shoes on her feet ( DUE TO GLASS BY THE POOL, WE WERE HANDED PLASTIC CUPS ON ENTRY). My aunty became distressed resulting in herself also being refused entry. My niece returned with shoes to enjoy her cousins birthday celebration. After discussion with RAY the manager I stood at the bar to order another jug for the kids, was told NO whilst he proceeded to serve two men who approached the bar after me, and was then asked in a very rude manner ARE YOU STAYING? I said yes as I have done nothing wrong. The afternoon worsened from there. My 14 yr old daughter went to the shop and bought chips and gravy along with lollies as we had to wait another hour for the kitchen to open RAY the manager chased my child out to the pool area went through the plastic bag, threw the lollies on the table said YOU CAN KEEP THESE BUT ILL TAKE YOUR FOOD. I took the food from RAY and placed in our car.The outdoor entry to the toilet was locked from the inside so we had to go through the bar whilst staff ogled at us, making sure they made known that our presence was not wanted nor welcome. I work for Voyages at Yulara NT in Hotel reception. I deal with people from all over the world on a daily basis. Customer service in the Hospitality Industry must be of high standard. But we were treated with contempt. My son works for a well respected local business owned by the Kittle family, two of his colleagues joined us for the birthday celebration and witnessed the horrendous treatment we received as paying customers. When the time came to bring out the cake they said they had lost it, the staff eventually found the cake, my daughter in law asked politely for a knife and was told NO! By this time my sons friends had become quite upset, he then went in to ask for a knife and was given one. I must now inform that we are an aboriginal family and my sons work mates are Caucasian, is this why we treated in such manner? We decided to order pizzas from Rockys and go home, as we were not going to spend another cent of our hard earned money in this disgusting establishment. I only get to see my kids once a month and wanted a lovely afternoon by the pool at my favourite Hotel. I want to say thank you Ray and your bar staff for ruining my daughters 13th Bday, also for instilling fear into my 8 yr old niece, as she wanted her nikes placed on her wet feet out of fear.This was the most disgusting treatment I have ever been faced with....
Read moreReally disappointed in the venue when we pay good money for food and drinks to come and watch footy on the big screen which is fantastic but they have doof doof music playing in the speaker while we're watching the game. Everybody outside would like the commentary put on but it's taken more than one hour to get changed. We are now in the third quarter and they still could not get the volume up for the commentary of the game, 25 people sitting out watching the game was ignored by all bar Staff and Security that were on their phone just looking at his facebook or what ever not even doing their job very disappointed in this venue security ☹️ The sound is just being turned on at the end of the third quarter with one minute to go. I would just like to say thank you to the bar Staff that works so hard and they said there was not a manager available for over one hour to change it back to the security guard that was playing on his phone looking at Facebook or something like that I'm very disappointed in him doing his Job. He was so rude to me saying it can't be done, anything can be done if you put your mind to it thank you very much. I like coming into this place but clearly the staff don't want more...
Read moreHave always enjoyed the special Fish N chips on Fridays nights with friends. Last Friday sitting by the pool on the bench seat every time I moved I got a splinter. I removed all of them myself except the one under my finger nail. Had to go to hospital to remove that splinter under my nail. Rang the manager next morning and told him about what had happened, and he said yes they will do something about it. Went there tonight and checked the wooden bench seat and aha nothing has been done. Spoke with a duty manager tonight she said she wasn’t being informed about that, and that seat has been like that kind of condition for a long time. She will tell the big boss and that’s all she can do.
I have a feeling that they don’t really care and I was very disappointed. If the owner didn’t want to replace or fix the bench seat at least they can put a sign on it saying that is dangerous to sit on.
