Lovely cafe in Penong. We spent a few days unexpected here due to car trouble and we visited the cafe everyday! The owners were nice and the food is good. It's the last place to stop in before hitting the Nullarbor! A must visit. There is a grocery store in there aswell for your everyday needs.

Didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the food, ate too quickly as it was too delicious! The staff are lovely and the general store has plenty of staples you need before heading out on the Nullabour (cheaper than Ceduna).

Awesome family owned general store and cafe. Friendly great service and AMAZING scones!! Great to see Australia’s biggest windmill then come here for a cuppa and morning tea. Highly recommend

We lived in Nundroo every week or fortnightly we had coffee from this shop and we found history to the family is so kind thank-you for your tasty veg burger and coffee we still missing it and thank-you for maintaining the history records. SINGH The second general store built in Penong was constructed by Mr James C. Stiggants in 1912, and still stands today as part of the Penong General Store. It was originally a two roomed limestone building. It is uncertain exactly who this was built for as records show varying owners. Lashman Singh is thought to have owned the store, however the same gentleman is referred to as Singh Lashmar in some records. Further more, the block of land where the store stands was first taken up by Maurice Lashman along with Natha and Maiya Singh, also referred to as storekeepers in the...

Unexpected encounter! Michelin Guide quality (for its taste, not fancy appearance obviously) food from small general store in country town!! We went this cafe on the way to Head of Bight. It looks ordinary general store/snack bar in usual countury town. We ordered some food because the next destination is too far away. We didn't expect much about food quality, but, wow! the food we received was way above our expectation. It was so delicious and portion size is very generous. Food was so nice even we were not really hungry. Don't underrate this place! I'm going to visit Head of Bight again this year and will definitely visit this place again....

What a treasure this place is. The savoury mince on toast was truly the best we've ever had. Even better than my mum's (sorry mum)! The coffees are always great, and plenty of alternative milk options if you have an allergy. There's even gluten free bread for meals.

As truckies, getting a good coffee and a healthy meal can be difficult, but Comet Cafe never fails. To get all that with a welcoming smile and homely surroundings is a rare thing indeed. Shirl was an absolute gentleman, and despite the stress of 5 people at his door before opening, and being on his own, he was nothing but kind and welcoming. Look forward to many...
