Food was nice but the service was not up to scratch, to say the least. To begin with our confirmed booking for 14 people was prepared only for 9. We had to wait over 30 min time get our table set up. Even our initial table did not accommodate 9 people so not sure what the maths was there. It took another 1h30 before our meals came out and we had to ask repeatedly for our drinks, including water. Thankfully most of the kids meal came out first ( note that the it took another 10 min from being issued the menus to begin advised that there was a kids menu and being given 2 copies to share at a table with 5 kids under 12). Unfortunately the kids chicken and chips came out with the chicken black. It should never have left the kitchen looking like that, let alone being served up. It took another 20 min before a new serve came. The last kids meal came about 30 min after all the others had been served and that was another black chicken. Really, that's just poor form. The adults mains were lovely. Then we had to wait to after the dish was served for the right cutlery. And give reminders for the bottle of wine that has been ordered. The deserts arrived in dribs and drabs, even those who had ordered the same desert had a 15 min disparate time in between the dishes being served. Bizarrely it seems that dishing up the trio of ice cream was the most complex as it took the longest to be served. In all there would have been 30 min between the first and the last desert being served. The deserts came without cutlery and as each serve came the waitresses had to be asked for the cutlery to eat it with. it got rather ridiculous. The maitre D was obviously not monitoring the room either. We ended being there for almost 3 hours mostly waiting for service. Luckily the youngest children were tired from the morning beach session and very patient. In all, although our group was in good spirits and enjoying the company, it was very much a subpar experience for the price. The service although friendly really needs to lift its game and...

We love going to this place but our most recent experience on was very disappointing.

It all seems a bit disorganized from the start.

There were a lot of staff around at the entrance but no one was willing to attend to those arrived, which I would assume is a priority.

We ended up waiting for quite a while as the number of new arrivals rose. This really set the tone - A lot of the time was spent waiting.

We waited about half an hour for our starters (which was fine) but it took us over an hour to get our mains. We waited 45 minutes before reminding one of the staff, which they said they were aware. It was another half an hour before we received anything. On top of this, the food had also dropped and parts of it were cold

We were set on getting desserts and coffee before we drove back to Melbourne, but given the experience we had with the mains, we decided it was best not to risk it, more so to ensure we would arrive back at the time we had planned.

Hopefully they get back to how it was before - it's this hope that keeps it at 3/5 stars, despite a very...

It's a long time since I have been as disappointed in a meal as the one my wife and I shared at Cape Kitchen today.

Yes, the road in, the venue and the view is excellent, but the "12 hour cooked Lamb Shoulder" was just not up to scratch.. Rather than a tasty meal that you could cut off the bone, we were served four "lamb medallions" which appeared to have been pre-cooked (or dare I say frozen and microwaved? and tasted like the carved meat I used to eat at Myers cafeteria. Neither the accompanying carrots or cauliflower were even vaguely tender, even for my wife who likes her vegetables lightly steamed at most.

To their credit, the restaurant gave use a credit on the carrots, and a couple of cakes as a makeup, but this was an extremely disappointing meal for my wife and I who had driven from Mornington for a relaxing Friday lunch. The staff were so pleasant, and attentive, that we frankly didn't have the heart to tell them what we thought of the lamb, half of which remained, so we paid and left.

I think the venue, the view and the front of house staff...

Gorgeous views, I mean, absolutely beautiful. There's an outside seating area and you can walk down right to the cliffs edge. Unfortunately you can't actually get down to that secluded beach, but looking at the cliffside; if you were to get down there's very little chance that you can get back up. However, because of the space, it's also quite loud when there are more than a few tables. The food is good, although the portions are quite small. I got the big breakfast (I mean it's called something more fancy than that, but that's basically what it is), but a few others in the group got one of the more fancy sounding items which really left them wanting. The drinks were good enough, although a few ended up getting more than one coffee to cover their caffeine needs. Would go again but mainly for the view.

Breathtaking views over the ocean & superb food. Book in advance to avoid missing out. The decor has been kept simple and neutral which allows the ocean views to be the focal point as you enter the bright, spacious and airy room. Service was friendly. Great menu with so many amazing dishes, it was hard to choose! All dishes were beautifully presented, and tasted amazing with a perfect balance of flavour. Grilled prawns were so fresh and succulent, and the baby squid (calamari) tender. The lamb shoulder and the beef fillet were both cooked perfectly and were delicious. The Eton Mess was sensational with the orange curd, but the White Chocolate & passion fruit mousse looked and tasted sublime! Such a beautiful setting and delicious food - highly recommend.

I could have spent the whole day here. Came on a local’s recommendation and so happy we did. Booked for breakfast and got a beachfront table. That is the view out the window. Lovely building and surroundings-lots of attention to detail and planting. Quality staff provide good service and are non intrusive. The view is spectacular. The food interesting and delicious. I could have chosen any of the dishes offered. Pictured are corn fritters, with a side of local bacon and Chorizo hash. While I can imagine with a full house it would be noisy, there were little books to disappear to,on the outside veranda. A quality offering well worth visiting for both lunch and dinner.
