There are much better options if you’re planning a family dinner out. I’ll try and make this as honest a review as possible. For context I took my family out for what I thought would be a nice ambient dinner where we could talk, enjoy gourmet food and wine, and each others company. However, the feel here is more like eating expensive food in a pub restaurant so if that’s the vibe you’re after ie Going with a group of mates to get drunk, talk loud etc, ignore this review. There were a few tables of oldies talking loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear them and that kind of kills the vibe. We had six guests, four adults and two kids, the food took almost an hour to come out and we saw many other tables who arrived / ordered after us get their food before us. They did resolve the issue and Brought our kids food out once we asked them politely, they also tried to compensate us for the wait by giving us two sides which we felt was a nice gesture, albeit the salad they gave us had dressing that was way to salty for any of us to eat. Overall the food was decent and on the level of a decent pub food with a price tag of a high end restaurant. The Beef Carpaccio was great, as was the lamb. However we wanted to order the pork cutlet but they ran out (at 7pm) so I opted for the steak, the cost is about $119 and it was below average at best based on my standards. Wine is between $18-20 per glass for local hunter brands which is normal pricing but the serving of wine was tiny, I went to several wine tastings where I received more as a taste, I even had to ask the gentleman serving if this was it? He was kind enough to respond accordingly. The servers really did try their best and I appreciate that. Overall our bill for six people was about $530 which is what you’d expect at a decent quality restaurant, but I didn’t feel it was worth it based on ambience and food quality. As mentioned earlier, the food was about on the level of decent pub food as opposed to a high level restaurant. I’ve tried to be as balanced as possible with this review and in summary I’ll say I cannot recommend this as an option for groups who want to chill and enjoy a nice meal / vibe but I’d say it would work ok...
Read moreMy friend and I arrived for our 7pm booking on Saturday night. It was busy and it took 20 minutes for someone to come to us for our order. At that point we gave our order and asked for the wine list as we had not been provided with one. Our waitress returned and gave us each a complementary champagne due to the long wait and a wine list. Shortly after we both ordered a glass of wine. It did not take long for our meal to come out. We had both ordered the lobster at $79 each. As soon as I put my knife into it I could tell it was not cooked - only the edges had cooked. I called to a passing waiter to took it back to the kitchen to be recooked. A couple of minutes later our waitress arrived back with it. I was surprised and told her that I had literally only just sent it back. She just shrugged. This time the lobster was now sitting shell -side up, not with the open side uppermost as it had originally been served. I put my knife into it again and again it was not cooked through/raw in the middle. My friend, who works in a commercial kitchen, had discovered hers was also not fully cooked. She went to the kitchen to tell them and our waitress returned to take them away to again be cooked again. By this stage I was wondering how many times it was going to take to cook this lobster properly, and our wine had not arrived. So I was completely over the whole experience. The waitress offered to get us another meal, although did not indicate these could be complementary. I declined and my friend ordered a different meal (lamb) which was apparently good. When we left to pay the bill our waitress advised that it would be the cost of one lobster meals plus the side dish we ordered. I was confused as I'd assumed we'd be paying for the lamb and the side dish so I said to her, "so we are paying for a lobster and the side?", to which she replied, "well you can just pay for the side dish if you want". At no stage did we get an apology. The whole experience has left a very bad taste in mouth (excuse the pun) and I would say that it is the worst experience I've had in...
Read moreWe went there for family birthday dinner.
The location is great but the food was ordinary. The T bone is difficult to chew and tasteless and the duck breast is almost burned. Very poor customer service and some staff was very unprofessional and rude.
I put a sepcial request online for celebration one of family members birthday and this was confirmed when we checked in at the restaurant to offer us a small bday cake with candle as a surprise. When we ordered the deserts, a waiter also confirmed about this offer again. So we kept waiting for the promised surprise. We finished our desert and still nothing happened. I asked a waiter if we are still getting the surprise, or we might head off. The waiter went to check and left us waiting for another half hour. We have an infant and it was too late so we decided to go. As I went to pay for the bill, I mentioned about this unpleasant experience at the counter. A female staff totally ignored what I said and asked rudely “did you want to pay for the bill at the bar?” I told her I had a very unpleasant dining experience but she kept asking me to pay at the Bar!!!
During the dinner, they served mains without cleaning up entrees. We understood they probably forgot about it and we were happy to help the waiter for cleaning up. Then they took all the used plates and didn’t provide clean ones. After mains, we ordered deserts and they served deserts without cutleries…
We paid approx. $150 per head and def did not expect what we experienced tonight. It totally ruined our bday dinner! Def will not go back to this...
