Read moreThe legends grill is a liability to the chateau Elan. There is no comparison between the customer service within the hotel and the restaurant. It's really sad because this so called "fine dining " establishment destroys the overall beauty and class of the chateau Elan. I honestly don't even know how to describe my disappointment and disgust. We went for dinner on Saturday night, our booking was at 8pm so it wasn't busy like other establishments we'd visited in the hunter valley. Let's start with the staff, they we're kaotic and unorganized, slow and unprofessional and somewhat unpleasant all at the same time, we we're ignored several times and waited 30 minutes for a cocktail (which we asked for 3 times) that wasn't even what it was supposed to be. Insert watery bitter daiquiri here
Presentation are good I must admit but the taste of the food are just pub meals. Service are casual cafe style, but a cafe service are better than this restaurant. I was at the front of the restaurant waiting at the counter but no one was there to serve me and it was around 7-715pm, a waitress came out walk pass me went directly to the pos and seems I been ignored. A couple (customer) came and also standing waiting at the counter infront of me and there the second waitress came out and served the couple first and again I was ignored. Because I waited for sometime at the door already and I was reading the menu while waiting for someone to serve me so I knew what I wanted to order (yes, thats how long I waited but the menu arent complicated). A scollop and the octopus (octopus legs to be true), and a tomahawk (about a kg ripeye). Waitress told me its served med rear as the chef recommended, but I still insisted medium. All meals presentation are good, scollop warm and I believe the used cauliflower purée, octopus was nice but nothing too special, the tomahawk…. Disappointed because the price are $150 for this plate but I didnt get what I wanted. I took a photo of the steak and that arent med, looks to me thats rare. The wait staff at this place might had been trained to ask clients about their meals, but what is the point of asking customers if your waitress are just asking. If you dont do anything when you get a bad feedback then dont ask for a feedback and dont pretend your restaurant care about your customers because I can see your restaurant dont care about what the customers are eating. Wait staff unprofessional, I got a dirty bowl to share my kids ice cream, bottle of coke served as it is without a glass (pub can do a better service then this restaurant), I asked for mustard that never came. I should have recorded my whole dining and post on youtube and let the ppl decide if this restaurant are fine dine or a pub restaurant.
Their are many places not far from this place that serves better food with much better service at the same...
Read moreWe had dinner. $75 for 3 courses. For an ok restaurant this is standard. And the menu looked ok. But the food was bad. An as entrée I had an asparagus dish. Asparagus are not that difficult to make. Generally, poach/stream them until they're crunchy and drizzle them with something nice. These were dry, burnt (like chucked on a grill) and salted! Inedible. I was in awe. The main was barramundi with potatoes and veges. The fish was overcooked to the point of having a mushy con sentiency. Tasteless. he potatoes were dry and overcooked and the vegetables were insipid - just boiled. The carrots actually tasted a little off (like they were old to begin with). At the terrible food, I didn't expect the dessert to be edible, but it was actually quite nice. Something like passionfruit panna cotta. It was well made and balanced.
The next morning for breakfast, my friend had a piece of plastic about 1cm long in his eggs benedict muffin. I found some avocado peel in mine and my wife got the end pip of the avocado in hers. We were amazed such carelessness was applied in making $25 breakfast plates. Not to mention the taste was just ok. Wow. Had we not found the extra stuff in our food, I would have likely rated this 3 stars. But I would not recommend a place that could potentially harm its consumers. The restaurant will likely reply tot his by apologising etc. Apologise by...
