Location seemed lovely and I was very interested in having breakfast at this cafe. Sadly despite having a lovely area at the back and on the river which appeared to be outdoors, I was told on arrival that I could not sit outside with my miniature dachshund. Not a problem, even though not dog friendly at all I was still keen to try the breakfast so happily sat on the table near (very near) the main road, basically in the car park. Anyway that's not the reason for the one star. This is given because whilst one staff members was lovely and friendly, another one on the register was quite uninterested in me and more interested in talking with another customer, clearly a friend. Fortunately the customer eventually stepped away from the register to allow me to order, this being after waiting for what seemed like 5 minutes or more. Despite this, the staff member still continued to talk with the friend even though I was now standing right in front and at the counter. After a further moment or two i was finally spoken to and my order was finally taken. Clearly I was interrupting other more important things at least that's how I was made to feel. As an out of town visitor I felt very disappointed and shan't...

We have just been to this restaurant for my birthday breakfast & all three of us in family were disappointed like anything for their quality of food & service. We ordered for two corn fritter plates & one Omelette. All we asked for not putting the relish or coriander sauce on the fritters so that it doesn’t get soggy but they brought all in individual separate plates for us to split, share & serve by ourselves! If we do the serving on our own then what’s the point of eating out at their place? The ‘soft boiled eggs’ were rock hard & definitely cooked hours before......not fresh! Chorizos were completely burnt & bacon was worst quality & almost raw too! Corn fritters were not fritters but big balls with uncooked mash inside & tasted horrible! We live in Port Macquarie & this place used to be one of our favourite place but after today’s experience, I would not go back or recommend anyone to try out their food! May be either they have new owner or new chef who will send the business to broke...

My meal was not good ,cajuan salad couldn't taste what it was ,looked pre made .When we got there,a sign on door no byo ,it didn't say that on the web sight ,it said corkage $2 on web sight ,but the owner said $4 ,my friend suggested to the owner that he looks it up ,yep $2 on the website, egg on face .I also thought if there is a surcharge on Sunday or public holidays there should be a seperate menu in place and it was to be included in the price of meal ,not listed on top of page ,seems a lot of people do it .So no not going back ,attitude from owner was enough ,much rather go to SEA SALT , much better ,and also there are many others cafe restaurants to choose from .Also it was raining and the roof was dripping near tabled , unpleasant experience .By the way Brenton BYO is currently still saying BYO on your face book page as at Wednesday...

The coke was good cause it was at least cold. As soon as we walked in we felt primary schooled by the principal. The waitress treated us like we weren’t welcome and confused us with tables available. All while being herded to get out of the way of another waitress. The salt and pepper main that in ordered was powdery, oily, tasteless and undercooked. The perch salad was not worth the $25 price tag with canned pineapple added to the salad. It was not fresh. A slither (not a piece) of lemon meringue for $9 was again overpriced. We definitely won’t be back in a hurry. Rather spend money elsewhere, with better menus, better atmosphere and friendlier staff.

We love this cafe. 1. Beautiful venue. 2. The best service. 3. Great food. On 2 occasions we have just turned up with our whole family, and when they find out we have no booking they are so accommodating. It's so refreshing, so many places make a big deal of not having a booking, and these guys are just amazing, they don't make you feel like a burden, but welcome you whole heartedly. Thank you. Such lovely old school hospitality. We will be back for sure.

Absolutely amazing location. A huge range of freshly prepared meals served right on the waterfront. This is our favourite cafe / restaurant in Port Macquarie. Correctly priced and licenced if you want an alcoholic beverage. I had a 'Paddo Pale Ale' that went beautifully with the special steak sandwich. My wife had the 'snitzel chicken wrap' and a nice glass of NZ Sav Blonk. Spent about an hour relaxing and taking in the river views. Well worth a visit!
