We booked a table on Sunday night (24th Jan) for Beaches Argentinian BBQ special. This was $30 pp, which is really reasonable, so we didn't think that we'd be getting anything too flash, just quality south american bbq fare. This was not the case. We booked for 6pm and were not the last to arrive, but we were the last to go up and get our food, which isn't what expected but since the restaurant was packed we didn't make a fuss. When we did eventually get our food (at around 7.15pm) we were surprised at the lack of choice of salads and not to mention the abysmal quality of the meat. My Mum's piece of pork was almost entirely fat and my father's and mine weren't much better.
It wasn't just the poor quality of the food that was served, the bad service didn't help matters either. When my mum asked the waitress who was serving bread if she could have another piece as she didn't get any chicken, the waitress tossed another piece (the smallest and hardest piece she could find) onto her plate. My mum was not impressed to say the least. Furthermore when the manager came around to collect our plates later on he asked us how our meals were, we replied 'not that great to be honest', but our jaws dropped when he said 'oh well it's not for everyone'. I've worked in hospitality for 7 years and I couldn't believe that a manager would say something like that to a paying customer at all.
I will say that my sister (a vegetarian) was delighted with her pad thai that she received (albeit she had finished it by the time we went up for our meals) and she said that the chef was very accommodating. However when we arrived my Dad mentioned to the manager that he had inquired on booking what the options were for a vegetarian, and we were told that she could be catered for at that time, but the manager on arrival was very unhelpful and sounded like we were putting him out by organising a vego dish, when we had already warned them.
On the other hand it's a beautiful spot and the band were great. My parents had dined here previously on New Years Eve 2014 and they enjoyed it so we were really...
Read moreWe were greeted to be seated by a staff member whose shirt was covered in stains which had us contemplating whether to eat there or not, we decided to stay and were ushered to a table which was covered in ants, so was the second table and the third, we eventually found a table on the verandah which had a great view and was ant free. We ordered the seafood platter which offered natural & Kilpatrick oysters, prawns, scallops, crab pate which sounded divine, a Morten Bay bug and battered fish. Our platter arrived and we were glad that we only ordered one to share and not one each as it was a large serve. When we started dividing up our share we could not find any crab pate, there was toasted bread but no crab, when we asked about the crab pate we were told that they didn't have any crab pate so they put a few extra prawns on instead, it would have been good customer service to be told this when we ordered or even when it was brought to the table, as we had to peel our prawns from the shells it would have been great to have a lemon water bowl on the table to wash our fingers in. These are small complaints which would be very simple to rectify, overall our experience was a relaxed luncheon with ok food and good service. I feel that the staff uniforms are too casual and leave a lot to be desired (and should at the very least be clean) but that is just my opinion as the venue appears quite up market.... we will be going back to try the Asian fare offered on the menu, the Pad Thai...
Read moreLook, its a great location and view but for a Sunday brekky. My coffee had a weird taste but the missus was OK. The brekky was ok but could have done with more than 1 rasher of bacon as it was the star of the dish. Missus said the French toast had too many elements. Mint could've been dropped and strawberry topping or berry compote, a lot less and didn't fit.Juice was out of a bottle and not fresh squeezed didn't justify the cost. Service and time for meals was great, but we were the only ones there. Limited menu. Yea, might not be going back for the cost Vs value. Taste was good but others better. We would love to take people there but it just needs something more for the $. And, what a difference a year makes. Went with friends and had a Sunday brekky. The menu was well balanced. I went with the bacon and eggs, and was impressed. The bacon was a very generous serv, the poached eggs perfect, extras were fine. My wife had the fritters and was impressed by taste and meal size.
The coffee was a vast improvement on last time. All of us enjoyed our meals and I'm happy to come back again for brekky. Price fitted the meals. Plenty of room between tables, hand sanitizer and Covid practices in place. Service was great. Upping my...
