My retirement job is to "test" sausage rolls all over Australia and Boyne Bakery is right up there in the top five! I tried the Curry Sausage Roll yesterday and one was enough for me as they are plump full of filling and wrapped in a crispy, flakey pastry. The curry flavour is reminiscent of Keens Curry but just the right amount. They had run out of Plain Sausage rolls by 1.30pm so I had to return today to try the Plain and their very popular Bacon and Cheese Sausage Rolls. Both were equally as good and I rate the Plain Sausage Roll as 9.5/10 because of the same reasons as the Curry version but I including the great savoury flavour. At $4.50 each they are great value. The pies and cakes were flying out of the place and the young fella that served me was fabulous both days. Photo in order are Curry, Cheese and Bacon, Plain.

I think I have found the best VS in the Gladstone Region. It was in the car for two hours & got a bit warm/squishy. The Classic Vanilla Slice, had fresh crisp pastry, the right amount of icing and custard was creamy, not too sweet. A nice combo & the service was most excellent to top it off. The French Vanilla, was the winner, that top layer is like uncooked meringue? They call it French Vanilla slice anyways. It works regardless, I am surprised at that! I took the slices home to try (I like to put it on a plate sideways & cut into 3, then eat) & the French Vanilla wins, best ever!

Sensational - been on the road for a couple of months coast and country qld - and sampled a number of pies on the journey. Some terrible some okay a couple of beauties well Boyne is in the ā€œbeautiesā€ class. Grabbed a chunky pepper steak - magnificent. Pastry, gravy, meat and temperature - and value. Devoured it before I left the shopping centre so turned around and bought a second. A must try experience.

ā¤ļøGreat bread (although I wish they would make wholemeal grain bread), they sell local milk, and the cakes and slices are delicious! VANILLA SLICE - one of the best I’ve ever tasted (and as it’s one of my favourite things, I’ve tasted many of them right around Australia! 😁😁) the pastry is so crispy you can bite straight through without having the custard squish out everywhere. Damn, now I feel like...
