First of all, the foods are delicious and unique. Really like how they incorporate the bush foods into every dishes. However, nothing says to me this is a fine dining restaurant as how they market themselves. In my opinion, only the price is fine dining. The setting of the restaurant, the presentation of the foods and the service are NOT fine dinning. I expect a lot when I pay a premium price. Don’t get me wrong, the service is great, but not exceptional. The foods are good too but not memorable. The presentation on the plate is horrible. You can’t slap a boiled bok choy on the plate with a grilled salmon and calls it a fine dining dish. You can’t pair a sad looking side salad with a beautiful barramundi and calls it fine dining. It would be more acceptable and reasonable if this was a bistro and the price a bit cheaper. Having says all that, I still recommend to eat here to experience the bush foods. Just lower your expectation and will come out a lot happier.

We went for my wife’s birthday dinner. I made a request to the staff if something can be done to make her special, they bought a nice celebration plate with sparkles and wished her. Loved this kind gesture to go beyond.Staff was exceptionally awesome from receiving us till the end. Must mention the exceptional service of the Waiter probably Nepal (men) and another male waiter who got the food for us. Happy to come back for the service. Wok fried prawn is must to try, mei goreng is average. Next day on, dinner we ordered chili chicken fried rice which is below average (no salt, less chicken, no sauce for flavour, very ordinarily cooked). But I am sure other food would be good.

Food was unexpectedly good. I would recommend the laksa. The salted prawns wasn’t bad but I won’t be dreaming about it anytime soon. Ambiance wasn’t bad except we sat next to the staff door which gave me a good view into the cleaning equipment. Hehe. 50% off with Accor plus membership.

We had a terrible experience for our wedding anniversary dinner. We were so excited as we haven’t had a meal together just us in about 5 years. Firstly, there was no one able to seat us when we arrived despite the wait staff standing around. And no we were not there before open. We did however enjoy our complimentary bubbles after we were seated. Secondly we were seated in a thoroughfare which we thought might actually be helpful to beckon waitstaff when needed, however not the best spot for a couple sharing their wedding anniversary it was probably the worst position in the restaurant. Thirdly our order was taken and then ‘lost’. We watched everyone else order after us, then get served and some had even finished their meals and actually left. Being seated here was no help as the staff started avoiding the thoroughfare and going around the long was because they didn’t know what to do and they could clearly see we had no food and were looking for help. At least bring over some prawn chips or something. After an hour of no food, we got hold of our served to ask about the order who assured us it won’t be long. Finally after 90 minutes and no reassurance from the staff we had our meals. To rub salt on the wound my main meal wasn’t even hot the inside of the chicken was cooked but cold and had no ‘heat’ as described with the 3X chilli symbols on the menu, and the food was simply basic. We have had nicer meals at cafes. Our server did apologise and gave us a complimentary desert. Only one though, we really should have had one for each person so again that was disappointing watching a single desert come out. Definitely do...

The Seabelle Restaurant is the Kingfisher Resort's fine dining venue. We had a reservation but it still took 20 minutes to seat us at our table, even though the restaurant was less than half full.

We ordered the Pepperberry and Beet Cured Emu, Fraser Coast wild King Prawns and the special, the Crocodile with Watermelon, for entrees. We most liked the prawns out of the three. The emu was quite salty, perhaps because it had been cured for too long.

For mains we tried the Paper Bark wrapped North Queensland Barramundi, Thai Spiced Duck and Hideaway Bay Pan Seared Pink Salmon. The duck and salmon were overcooked however we had asked for the salmon to be cooked medium.

The Mango and Coconut Panna Cotta and the D'gari Delight were our dessert choices. The D'gari Delight had Daintree chocolate soil, orange sherbet and fairy floss. This was our favourite of the two. The panna cotta, though nice, had a very firm consistency and was not really a good panna cotta in this respect.

All the dishes were well presented and visually pleasing. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating.

If you are staying at the Kingfisher Resort for a few days the Seabelle Restaurant is worth a visit and a good alternative to the other eating venues. Note though, it is closed on Mondays and you are required to make a...

While staying at Kingfisher resort we were reminded a couple of times that Dune was booked out. It turned out that you could make very early or late bookings. Great! We arrived for our 7.30 booking, not that late at all … to lots of empty tables but a fairly stressed out Maître de, if that is what he was. We had originally been asked about our preference for inside or outside. We said inside. We were seated at a table outside on the deck with the pungent odour of grey water (or sewerage but maybe just standing grey water). We ordered wine, duck spring rolls & Morton Bay Bug Stir fry. We also ordered egg fried rice with peas & corn. Just like at our local suburban takeaway. The wine was very slow in coming. The spring rolls & bugs were delicious and a generous serving. The fried rice was very homely. It could have been a bit fancier given the “exclusiveness” of the restaurant, The gap between entree & main was too long & staff looked over at us sitting with empty glasses not recognising the opportunity to fill those glasses & increase our spend. No offering of dessert. In spite of the fact that we are on our honeymoon, from our early encounters trying to book we didn’t expect much, but it was still...
