Considering the price, a very average experience. Which is to be expected of an island restaurant with a captive audience. Mediocre service that needed 4 phone calls just to book a table and slow drinks service, although the staff were friendly. Food we ordered: Crispy potato skins - overall very good, crispy and hot. Unanimously voted best dish of the night by the 5 of us. Sourdough and smoked butter - bread wasn't incredible but the butter was nice. Nothing to write home about however. Just... Nice. Crispy pork belly - huge hunk of pork with almost crispy skin, like 80% towards ideal. Brie apple was odd but no good, and the layered potato was plain lazy and bland. Below par. Crispy barra with prawns - essentially a pub meal at the same quality but more expensive. Not bad though. Tandoori chicken - big slabs of chicken breast in tandoori rub. Some flavour but kind of dry with plain white rice and naan bread. And raita despite there being zero spice in the dish. Pumpkin truffle ravioli - extremely sweet ravioli and only a hint of truffle flavour in the sauce. However despite the lack of truffle the sauce was pretty good and really displayed how unbalanced the ravioli flavour is. Steak - a $44 steak that didn't come with any kind of sauce and needed it. It also needed a steak knife which wasn't included. This, I feel, says all you need to know about the steak. Not happy. So, overall. Seabelle wasn't open due to covid but it would have been a better choice for slightly more money. The Bistro would also have provided a better pub style meal like a parmi for less money. I'm unsure where this restaurant fits into the resort hierarchy but it seems to be too low quality for mid tier, and too expensive for cheap and cheerful. Guess we'll cook at the room tomorrow night.

I’ve had breakfast, lunch and dinner here yesterday. The food was surprisingly good for a restaurant on the biggest sand island in the world. Breakfast buffet is well stocked with assorted fruits, hot foods, cereals and breads. Coffee from the machine is a bit of a let down but you can order a barista one next door and they will deliver it. Lunch was also very tasty but the staff were poorly organised and it too a super long time to serve the food. Dinner was packed on Saturday night (closed on Sunday- make sure you book). We very much enjoyed the market fish and the pasta dish that came with a whole Moreton bay bug. We had an Accor plus card that gave us 50% off food which made everything very affordable.

Below average service. Very rude staff working in restaurant with terrible customer service skills. Ordered barista coffee (the staff member also took over 30 mins for Batista coffee and one other person had ordered coffee), it tasted worse than buffet provided coffee and cost was extra $s for barista coffee. Had discussions with other patrons who said service gone down over last 12 months and prices increased. Look at pics of terrible eggs. G F options minimal (bread and cereal only), not satisfactory in current clinate of people who are celiacs. Did have yummy plums though. Will not return.

The Maheno Restaurant offer indoor dining and outdoor dining, poolside dining.

At Maheno Restaurant you have a selection of 8 mains for dinner and included in the price is the buffet of sides and desserts. The buffet has a salad station, rice, vegetables (which may include broccoli, cauliflower, corn zucchini, pumpkin depending on the night), ceasar salad station, bread and a soup. The desserts include a selection of cakes, icecream and fruits. The mains are around $40 and includes dishes such as sirloin steak, Barramundi fillet, pork loin, chicken breast, lamb rump and fried squid. The mains were good and the steak was cooked correctly, as ordered. The buffet was very basic. I would suggest that all the items on the buffet are labelled.

The restaurant also offers a Seafood Tower for $160 and an Australian Meat Tower for $110. Both of these are for 2 people and come with a bottle of house wine but does not come with the buffet selection.

Also, a party of 2 can select a main each for $105 per couple and this includes the buffet and a bottle of the house wine.

The cocktails were reasonable priced at $10 but probably needed another shot of alcohol.

For lunch there are a selection of dishes for around $20. These include steak sandwich, club sandwich...

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! We experienced by far the worst customer service I’ve ever seen at Sand & Wood. Group of us went for lunch and ordered burgers and salads that took over an hour to arrive. One of the salads that came out was the wrong salad and when we bought this up with one of the waiters he responded by telling us that it was in fact what we had ordered and we were wrong. Given we had already been waiting so long for our food, we decided to eat the meal and not bother arguing or asking for the right one. Upon taking 2 bites a piece of fishing line was found in the squid. We were shocked and let the waiter know immediately, he took the salad away and came back a few minutes later only to say he had spoken with the chefs and they had said there was no way fishing line would be in their food and that we must have planted it in there!!!! No offer of a refund or to even replace the meal, just accusing us of being liars and planting foreign objects in our own food. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience that really put a downer on our holiday at Kingfisher Bay Resort. Perhaps this particular waiter needs a bit of a refresh on the basics of good customer service. I do hope no one else has to endure...
