Ellangowan Hotel Augathella — Restaurant in Queensland

The friendliest staff I have come across, a place to eat indoors with a little dog. The meals were incredible, I had a Parma and my wife had the seafood basket the first night and not only were they huge meals they were absolutely beautiful. The second night was “Pizza Night” and they put city pizzerias to shame, we had two supremes and could only eat one between us because of the amount of toppings, magnificent. We had the second for dinner the next night, again magnificent. The camp area across the road was kept in fantastic condition by the nicest council workers I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The butcher opposite the pub should not be missed either, best quality meat at very reasonable prices, we topped up our fridge from there on...

We have visited this pub a couple of times and both have been excellent. We had burgers for lunch on our first visit which were well made and cooked. The second visit was for dinner. OMG the size of the meals were huge, well cooked and tasty. We had the crumbed steak and the chicken kiev. But the best part if you are passing through and like a milkshake do yourself a favor and have one from there. They are truly the old fashioned style milkshake that I remember from when I was a teenager working in a similar business. This Pub and the hosts are outstanding and welcome you like family. New owners came in June 2019 and have reinvigorated the spirit of the hotel along with Smiley's Cafe and The Augathella Palms motel. These 3 businesses are now operated by the one owner and the symbiosis has totally changed each for the better. On our last visit, the pub was run down and didn't even offer meals. This time we totally enjoyed excellent dinners, cold beer and great country hospitality. Extra star for being totally dog friendly with Marley the Labrador leading the welcome.
