Grace Eats — Restaurant in Queensland

Unfortunately, I have to leave this review after a really disappointing experience with Grace Eats Laidley. My husband was organising a birthday cake for me and initially reached out via Facebook. He was told to call, which he did, and spoke to Bec who was lovely and confirmed that after-hours pickup would be fine. Later, realising he had requested pickup for my birthday instead of the day we actually needed the cake, he sent a Facebook message to amend the date. Megan (who I assume is the owner) replied very rudely with no apology for the mix-up or explanation, just a blunt message stating their opening hours. He then requested a refund as he couldn’t pick it up during those hours due to work. That message was left on read and ignored. He followed up with a phone call this morning, only to be put on hold for 6 minutes before the call was hung up. He called back and was met with attitude, with Megan pretending to not know what was going on. She eventually said she’d process the refund today and then abruptly hung up again. Monday 14th July 9:30am Asked for a skinny vanilla cap extra hot takeaway. Left the place, it tastes milky, no vanilla, no chocolate powder. The only thing she got right was the extra hot. I went back to let her know that i thought i must have received someone elses coffee, and she was extremely rude. She said what's wrong with it, I said I couldn't taste the vanilla, it was very milky and tgeres no chocolate on top. Then she grabbed the receipt and said the vanilla isn't on the receipt. I told her I asked for it, and she mentions I need to pay and $6 because 'if I have to make another coffee, you have to pay for it'. Then I said just add the vanilla and she said its 50c and I got my card out to pay. She tells me minimum is $5 so you'll be paying $5.50. I had no cash on me. So I left and I haven't touched it. I am a regular at this cafe; and honestly not one to leave a review. The staff that work here are absolutely amazing. Always obliging and do whatever they can to make your day special. Whether its take-away or dine in. So happy to go the extra mile. Whether I order a cake to collect or a coffee to take-away nothing is too much bother for them. It's so refreshing to be treated with such respect. The girls always repeat back to you what you we have ordered so as to no confusion and everything there is consistent - service & quality. The cake cabinet is amazing and the place is so clean. There is always something new to browse in the cafe and the new range of olive oils is such a great addition to the retail side.
