We were staying at Hollowayās Beach and had gone past this place a number of times, so decided to give it a go.
I do believe they were grossly understaffed for the amount of people coming in at rush hour - seemingly from the same group (if this is a regular occurrence, a seasoned business owner or manager might insist on large 10+ groups making bookings, to plan for the provision of extra staff).
My husband placed an order for 2 pizzas, chips and bruschetta late afternoon and despite being advised to ācome back in half an hourā, waited around 2 hours, as he watched the 2 staff on duty become increasingly overwhelmed with the amount of patrons coming in en masse. This kind of problem is not just ābad luckā, itās poor planning, and can be resolved.
When we finally received the food - it looked nothing like previous images on Google Reviews. The pizza toppings just fell straight off the bases that looked like they were freshly defrosted from someoneās broken freezer. The actual base was undercooked, and the meat toppings had this weird aftertaste - like theyād been left too long in the open air or something. We should have really taken them back because we didnāt eat much beyond the first bite - but, being previous hospo workers we are both aware of what itās like to be swamped, serve under poor management, and then also have to face unhappy customers.
We donāt really blame the staff on duty here, we otherwise had a great time in Cairns and this place was just a small upset, not worth losing sweat over. So Iām really just leaving this feedback here for the owner or manager to hopefully find. Because youāve got a lovely spot with...

First off, the staff need training... I had to correct the staff about the pricing when placing the order, as he was trying to charge me half the price of what I was actually ordering.
Timing.... Well, it was estimated at 15 minutes for 1 large pizza and bruschetta. It took well over 45 minutes.
The pizza was soggy, under-cooked and lacking topping (the cheese was not spared though). Bruschetta was an absolute joke. To think that folding a small pizza base in half, half cooking it and then putting chopped tomatoes, red onion and a drop of dressing is a bruschetta is beyond me. It is a disgrace to the high level of food this restaurant use to offer.
Finally, it would be nice to see the delivery cars in a state of road worthiness. To see a trail of fabric under the vehicle getting caught on the road is recipe for disaster and a hazard to the families residing in Holloways Beach.
Hoping this tragedy of an experience was a one off and you are actually a "4.5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and our really good friends stayed in Holloways beach the weekend, and there wasnāt much variety for food in the tight knit suburb but WOW! Doesnāt this joint hit the spot! We sat down in the corner to wait for our ribs to finish up in the oven and watching this team work so harmoniously was a real pleasure. The service was amazing, they had a fantastic vibe going with the bar with music playing and the locals having a good time. Everyone was so polite and the food was cooked amazing! I honestly think I would go all the way back to Cairns just to experience the great food and even better service again. Thanks for filling our bellyās and our cupās Holloways Beach Pizza & Pasta. Keep up the...
