Junction Cafe Tondoon Botanic Gardens — Restaurant in Queensland

Very disappointing experience. Went there after the Rotary Markets. I ordered a large mug of coffee for myself, a "melon madness" juice for my partner and a chocolate thickshake for her son. My coffee came out promptly and it was very good. We waited 20 mins for the juice and shake. Nothing. Asked at counter where they were. Told by manager that they would be "out very soon". Waited another 20 mins. Still no sign. Now had finished coffee so asked again. Manager said "haven't they been brought out yet?!". I said no. She goes in and checks and then comes back saying "sorry your drinks were given away by a new girl who had given them to other customers by mistake" This is frustrating to say the least as each table has an assigned unique ID number! I looked around and couldn't see those particular drinks at any other table - so was suspicious of this explanation. Manager offered (perhaps as "compensation"?) to make some more (how generous) and put them in take away cups (not really compensation as the ONLY reason we (used to) go there was for the ambiance of eating / drinking by the lagoon and the gardens - NOT for takeaway!). So another ten mins pass and FINALLY our drinks given. About one hour all up for three drinks! Nothing offered as compensation - just a "sorry about that". Pretty average. Don't go there when it is moderately busy as the young staff will most likely stuff-up your order or give your order away to...

Just tried out this place! Great decision. Lots of parking available, there is an accessible ramp too. The location is lovely and quiet, with the sounds of nature to soothe. So, I had the Bao bun trio, I chose two with bacon and one with halloumi (my fave cheese btw). They were fresh and presented in a small bamboo steamer, very cute! Yummy as well. The other half chose the brekky wrap and he enjoyed that. Coffee was good and we got a bit of carrot cake to eat later. The service is friendly and everything came out quick. We love coming here for brekkie and ordering the platter for 2, just look at it! Where do you even start? 🤤 They even do a platter for 4! I always take my relatives from out of town to this cafe and they adore it! Those hash browns are just chef’s kiss! The staff are so lovely and attentive, the amenities are so close and clean.
