Worst dining experience!! We, a family group of 4, had the misfortune to visit this restaurant on 27 Jan for dinner. We were staying in a resort at the end of the street & thought it would be easy to pop over for dinner. We went to their reception in the afternoon to book a table in advance & were promptly assigned a booking for 7.30pm.
We arrived there on time but found no specific table set for us & were asked to take any table we like. We chose a poolside table as the dining area was so hot & humid with no AC or cross ventilation on such a hot day. We had placed the order at the till, paid & then waited at the table to be served. The lady who took the order was almost panicking & kept complaining about the heat & the busy night while taking the order.
After a while since nothing was served (including a cocktail that was ordered & paid for) I walked up to the till to request a copy of the receipt to check if they missed it. I was told the receipt would be sent to our table. But that didn’t happen either & after a wait of another 30mins or so a staff member brought some food in a set of takeaway containers to our table. We told her we were to dine in but she said it was her 2nd day at work & was following instructions.
Two of us went back to the till & asked why we have been unilaterally given takeaway when we made a table booking in the afternoon. No one gave any explanation nor an apology. They just gave blank looks at each other or went away. We also asked about the drink that was ordered. No one seemed clear & we again insisted for the receipt.
The lady who took the order finally turned up from the rear of the counter & started claiming that she told us it would be takeaway (plain lies as there was no discussion whatsoever) & that no drinks were ordered (lies again).
On our insistence the lady finally produced the order + eftpos receipts from somewhere. It was clear that the order had one 1770 Hurricane Sunrise cocktail. So she was clearly lying. Our frustration levels were peaking & our voices were getting louder when one of them was smart enough to say we were yelling (w/o having the courtesy to apologize for their unilateral decision to give us takeaway or the missing drink from the order in the first place that triggered the whole situation).
We then asked to meet the Duty Manager. They said there is no Manager on duty (which was strange for such a busy night) but the Chef (Sherrie - apologies if not spelt correctly) came out. We explained the situation & as a minimum, asked for refund for the drink ($19+ holiday surcharge) that wasn’t served. She said the system can’t refund but offered to have us for breakfast next morning on the house to compensate for what happened.
We gave up at that point & left the restaurant. We were so upset, tired & put off by the whole experience that we didn’t bother turning up for the breakfast next morning. Wasn't confident enough that we wouldn't have had to cope with another bad experience!!
With this sort of attitude to customer service we won’t be there again even when we are in Agnes/1770. The local tavern & the pizza place were far better in comparison !! Sharing this as a warning to prospect customers & also for the management (that is, if they seriously want to make improvements). We regularly dine out on a weekly basis in Brisbane but never had this sort of weird & nasty experience...

We had a booking so arrived on time, staff advised us the table we were sitting at, but the table was taken- but that was fine as there were plenty of others to choose from. The resturant only has a few ceiling fans and opened windows- so if you overheat, probs not the best place to go as it was hot at 6:30pm. Once we found a table we looked around for a menu to discover that you need to get one from the service desk, and ask for table water- which was fine, and easily fixed. We ordered well over $100 worth of food and drinks, the great northern is only in tins (tin of great northern and cocktail cost $27). We waited over an hour for the entree to arrive - which was good. And then the mains arrived, the fish of the day had no flavour to it (the salad dressing was more flavourful than the rest of the meal). Was advised it’s fresh, but unsure how accurate that really is once tasting it. The chips were soggy due to the fish sitting on top and the excess salad dressing. My partner ordered a medium rare steak, when it arrived it was well done and chewy. Meanwhile, patrons around us were also not getting their meals correct and one couple was waiting over an hour for their Dessert.

Read moreAbsolutely appalling behaviour by the staff tonight. My partner and I had arrived at the adjoining hotel later in the evening and decided to see if we could book a table. We walked in at 7:20 and were greeted by a blonde waitress who rudely handed over us over to the manager, Josh, claiming he will “deal with us”. Josh explained to us that the restaurant was busy and without a booking we wouldn’t be able to get a table. He informed us that we could order room service and gave us a menu. We understood this and went back up to the room to call the restaurant. We attempted to place an order at 7:35 and were told that room service had finished at 7:30? As you can imagine we are extremely frustrated! We were left questioning why neither of the three staff on the floor tonight neglected to tell us that we only had 10 minutes to run back upstairs and order!
