Let me start by saying that the position is amazing and it is such a shame that the dining experience is of such a low standard. We booked a table for breakfast because the Facebook page had been advertising about their New years eve day so I thought it could be busy. Only about half of the tables were full. It took a bit to be greeted and then the reserved table was non existent. They sat us at a table that had no menus. We self helped from another table. When they eventually took our order, we then waited a further 40 minutes to get our 2 coffees that were barely drinkable and served in takeaway cups, they forgot the milkshake order and only brought out 2 of our meals, they had forgotten the third meal which took a further 15 minutes to arrive. The customer service is very poor and disorganised, with one of the younger staff quipping when we mentioned that we had been waiting for 40 minutes, he very rudely replied, well so have others. None of the staff seemed to know what they were doing or what their roles were. The food was edible but not of a standard that would bring you back. Everything was served in a bowl and the omelette that we requested with no toast due to gluten was served with the toast on top of the omlette and the bacon and egg burger with no rocket was served with rocket after already forgetting that order in the first place. Read moreHonestly, the food quality is poor. Although I do like finally having a dining area close to home it’s just not good food. I’ve been here only three times now and every time I left disappointed and unsatisfied, it seems like the cooks are inexperienced and some dishes consist of only microwaveable food. Recently I ordered a sundae thinking there’s no way they could mess it up, unfortunately I was wrong, when I got it the ice cream was COMPLETELY melted and they still served it to me like nothing was wrong saying it melted because of the brownie. I am just wondering how this happens because I used to work at an ice cream shop where we heat brownies up for ice cream and the ice cream does not melt that fast. I hope they did not have the ice cream just sitting out because that is a major health concern. It was also very quiet during this time so i’m not sure why there would be delays that allow the ice cream to melt that much. but also the brownie came fast so the only 2 possibles i can think of is that they microwaved it with the ice cream??? or that the ice cream was just left sitting out for a while. either way those mistakes are not excusable and should not be made at a “qualified” restaurant. the staff are nice but seem extremely inexperienced which is okay i understand that because it is only a...
Read moreWe decided to check out Rock Island for the first time on New Year’s Eve and safe to say we will not be back. The location is great, however the organization, overall decor, customer service and quality food just doesn’t hit the mark at all. We waited at our table for menus as instructed and when they were brought to us the staff member noticed a missing page and told us she would get us a replacement and instead left to take the order of another table and we had to remind her to return. We ordered our drinks and we received one of the four drinks ordered within 15 minutes. Our other three drinks remained missing and after querying staff on two separate occasions we received our drinks 45 minutes after they had been ordered. After receiving our drinks we gave the two baby chinos to our toddlers for them to start drinking when one of the waitstaff returned to query why were giving coffee to our children. We once again confirmed our order and he returned to finally make the two baby chinos we had ordered, taking away the two cappuccinos he made in error. Our food was delivered not long after our drinks and we hoped this would be the saving grace but alas the meat patties weren’t entirely cooked and the burgers lacked overall flavour.
