24/01/2023 - Update: We returned to Hervey Bay and had the pleasure of dining twice at Spotted Goat. Without getting into huge details, everything was better than I remembered. The service was outstanding, with staff addressing us by name each time, and also making the effort to converse whenever the opportunity arose. The food and drinks were again exemplary, putting all other competitors to shame, in my humble opinion. Everything was perfectly presented and prepared, and the bold, exciting flavours proved that, where Spotted Goat is concerned, things do taste as good as they look. To Tania and the team, you're amazing and do what you do exceptionally well. Keep up the fantastic work and we'll see you again soon. Initial review: Firstly, a big thanks to Luke at Good Place Espresso (great coffee, great guy!) for recommending this dining establishment. It's wonderful to see local businesses sticking together and supporting one another. The Spotted Goat Kitchen is a fantastic addition to the Hervey Bay food scene. The service provided, particularly by the owner, was flawless. She was entertaining, funny, friendly and made us feel like we'd met many times before. The food and drinks were also excellent. Our meal choices - The Forager, The Dirty Chook Bowl and the Summer Lovin' Bowl - were plentiful, fresh, well presented and very flavoursome. Our satisfaction was unanimous within a couple of bites. Our drinks - assorted smoothies and a Chai On Ice - were on par with the meals and thoroughly enjoyed. My only criticism, unfortunate but not impactful enough to reduce my rating, was the fact that two meal options and a drink option were unavailable/sold out. This led to several of us having to reassess and make alternate selections. I also question the inability to book a table, primarily as this is an already bustling business within a relatively small premises. That being said, Spotted Goat Kitchen, on first impressions, is a gem and deserves to succeed in every regard. We're excited to have found it and will return, without a doubt.

The Spotted Goat is an unassuming little cafe just off the esplanade rd that serves up a limited but well thought out menu, with lots of vegetarian or vegan possible options. We had the green goddess bowl and the forager and farmer (swapped out the beef brisket croquette for a pumpkin fritter, which was beautifully crispy and flavourful). The green goddess was packed with crisp fresh veggies, legumes, and aromatic herbs, and the trout and eggs combo on the bottom added a nice warmth and savouriness to the dish. The dressing and chilli brought everything together, simply delicious. The forager was loaded with a luscious mushroom mix providing strong umami flavours. This balanced quite well with the sweet-crispy pumpkin fritter, perfectly poached eggs and smear of mildly spicy siracha sauce. Enjoyed an excellent long black alongside. Highly recommend popping in for breaky if you’re in the Hervery Bay area. 🐛

Five Stars – A Must-Visit Gem! I had the pleasure of visiting The Spotted Goat recently, and I can't say enough good things about the experience! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with a big smile and genuinely fabulous customer service. Tanya was absolutely amazing — we had a great chat and a good laugh, which really set the tone for a fantastic visit. The food was superb — beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. What really stood out was the unique menu. It’s refreshing to see a café thinking outside the box instead of offering the usual breakfast fare. Everything I tried was delicious and clearly made with care. Whether you're a local or just passing through like me, do yourself a favour and stop in. Say hello to Tanya — you won’t be disappointed. Thanks again, Tanya! See you soon. – Ryan

What a Cafe! Found by accident and so grateful we did. Day 1 - coffee and custom brekky rolls to go. On the menu? Nope. They offered and delivered probably the best bacon egg and avo burger I've had in my LIFE. Coffee was PERFECT and delicious. Day 2 - we dined in. Greeted us BY NAME. Remembered our coffee order from the day before. The food? It's not food. It's like something from Masterchef. Nothing was too much trouble. Eggs benny-ish and mushroom extravaganzas. They were packed - but greeted most people by name, and treated visitors with enthusiasm. Both myself and my friend are very well travelled - and Spotted Goat? I'd holiday in Torquay just to eat there. Absolutely freaking AMAZING. Thanks guys - the level of service and quality of food was unrivalled. We shall return after you've had a well deserved...
