Been here before but it's been quite some time. Well, this establishment restores my faith that you can still find fabulous food, service & refreshments in a really wonderful setting! It was a last minute decision for lunch and we were greated with incredibly friendly, smiling staff. I've yet to come across better waiting staff, ever. Menu was quite extensive for a Sunday sitting and whatever you pick it will be brilliant. Everyone in the entire restaurant seemed to be really enjoying their food. Servings were a decent size. We had, that morning baked, foccacia bread with feta and olive oil, lamb shoulder, nochcci, lemoncelli tiramasui, Greek donuts in syrup plus coffee. All of these were absolutely stunning. Incredible chef work. There is an extensive wine list, as you could expect at a winery. My wife tried their Pinot Grigio and it was top notch. Lou's has a good selection of craft beer which is great for me! (A suggestion, via me, a long time ago in another review and taken up. I'll be forever greatfull!) Pricing was very reasonable, considering pubs are charging similar prices 🤔! This was a wonderful day out made extra special the best food and service I've had in memory. (I would give an extra star if I could.) Extra highly recommended! Cheers, Q. (All up cost was $188 for 3 courses with 2 x wines, 2 x craft beers and a coffee for...
Read moreFirst time visiting Lous by Horizon with my husband over the weekend. Came in with high expectations and was disappointed when leaving with a large bill. We started off with fresh oysters and arancini. Arancini was great, great flavour and nice and crispy. However oysters weren’t shucked properly with shell being broken and the sauce was so acidic it was inedible. Onto mains, I had pasta al fredo, tasted nice however I felt like it was packet pasta. My husband had pulled brisket which was tender enough but not full of flavour. We also had a side of rosemary potato’s that were soggy. For dessert which was our biggest disappointment we ordered deep fried ice-cream. Definitely not deep fried. The ice cream was rock hard with a small amount of cornflake crumb sprinkled on top accompanied by I presume shop brought caramel and chocolate sauce. The “deep fried ice-cream” was cold on the outside when it arrived at the table. We had to request a knife to be able to eat it. Not sure if Callum goes in regularly to try his chefs food but I think it might be time for a visit if he hasn’t recently……Ambience was okay but could do with some more ambient lighting and Barossa style decor/personality. I came in with high hopes being a Masterchef and Callum fan but left feeling devastated that it wasn’t what I was...
Read moreWe recently visited this wonderful restaurant with friends, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel like special guests.
The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and perfectly paired with the Barossa's finest wines. The vibe of the place is something special—warm, inviting, and uniquely charming.
What made our visit even more memorable was the short trip to the wine tasting area and the wine shed, where we admired the barrels and learned about the winemaking process. It was an enchanting addition to our day and made us feel truly privileged.
This restaurant is the perfect spot to round out a day of wine tasting in the Barossa. We highly recommend visiting Lou's Place by Horizon for a delightful lunch or dinner. Additionally, it's an excellent venue for private events, such as birthdays, engagements, baby showers, or even weddings.
The lawn at the front is a stunning setting for private functions or cocktail parties, offering a picturesque backdrop to any celebration.
If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in the Barossa, this is the...
