We booked a large table in the beer garden on a Sunday. The tavern was very accommodating at first....but....

We waited forever for our meals. 2 adults had finished there meals (40mins) before the other 11 adults got there's

All of the kids meals came out very stagged which meant they were eating 1 at a time.

One of the meals got sent back as it was dry and overcooked and we waited an hour for the replacement. By that time we had all finished, she was the only one left at the table

I ordered creamy garlic sauce on the side and the jug was 1/3 full, when I asked for more I was told I had to pay for it as its made fresh on the grill, so I didn't finish my meal as I had no sauce and it went cold and dry.

The kids ordered dessert and again came out 1 at a time and the pavlova was forgotten about, so after half an hour the waitress went in and prepared herself.

When booking we were informed there was a band from 2pm. But the band started at 12.45. Not very enjoyable being so loud we could not have a conversation and was too much for the kids

Unfortunately now our friends will be very hesitant to dine with you. We have property in port hughes and knowing what's happened in moonta etc with pubs im all about staying local but what a very...

Very disappointing experience. Called ahead to ask if they had vegan options, was advised they had options available. On arrival, found that the menu did not have any vegan options, and they did not have a seperate vegan menu. The chef came out and spoke to me about their vegan options. He explained that they were in the process of changing menus, explained that he can’t get the other chefs to wash their hands in between touching different foods therefore there is too much cross contamination, he advised that the tofu was cooked with meat so that’s not an option, the chips are cooked with meat and also explained that they can’t get vegan options in this area. To the last point, I’d like to note that I owned a full vegan cafe and I know that all the suppliers will deliver to this area. I was offered rice and veggies with honey soy sauce (however honey is not vegan). I completely understand that some places choose not to offer vegan options, however this is why I call in advance. Upon hearing that there was difficulty training chefs to wash their hands, we decided not to order any food and just got drinks instead. On the plus side - the woman who served us at the bar was very...

Drinks in the outdoor area, lovely atmosphere and view of the jetty. Came back for dinner, won't do that again. Sunday night (Fathers Day) 3 tables in the restaurant, we were only ones sitting outside. Ordered onion rings, wedges, chicken schnitzel & butterfish. Took 20min for onion rings & wedges, another 15min for schnitzel & fish to come out even though barman asked if we wanted it all together which we did. Meals arrived, no cutlery so went back inside, no bar staff but I could see them chatting to each other in the sports bar. Waited 5min for their attention then asked for cutlery which was received. Onion rings & wedges were lovely, schnitzel was good, fish was awful. Fish clearly cooked from frozen as when I cut into batter water flooded plate and made chips soggy. Salad was pathetic and limp. Big improvements could be made, the pub could be packed on a Sunday night but I think the kitchen is the main area letting it down. It's a basic menu, how could you get battered...

"The Port Hughes Tavern is a fantastic spot to unwind and enjoy a meal after a day by the beach. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Their menu offers a great variety, with fresh seafood being a highlight – the fish and chips are a must-try! The tavern also boasts a stunning view of the coastline, making it perfect for a relaxing drink while watching the sunset. Whether you're a local or visiting the area, this is a great place to stop by for good food, great service, and a lovely seaside vibe."

This place has delicious food & drinks😁👍. I had the fillet mignon with creamy mushroom gravy cooked well, very tender, juicy and flavourful, and tasty chips😍👌. The Kilpatrick oysters were very hot and flavourful😋. Nice garlic bread. The jumbo prawns were lovely and fresh. Creamy and flavourful carbonara penne👍. And a big tasty chicken Parmy😁👍. The pepperoni pizza was average thin and bland. The desserts were really nice, the sticky date with ice cream was yum! Highly recommended. Photos by: jesusbelievers_noah I.G & F.B

Friendly staff, food was yummy and decent sized serving! Kids had the calamari and pasta. Both came out very quick and they loved it! Steak special was cooked perfectly for my wife. Beef schnitty was massive and i tried the Chicken Avocado… yum! Sorry was too hungry to take all the photos :p Oh and the gravy and mushroom sauces were on point too! Finished off with some churros and sticky date which was massive!
