Yilki Store — Restaurant in South Australia

Today we stopped off at this Cafe and ordered a coffee, hot chocolate, vanilla slice and a matchstick. Total price was 26.00. The vanilla slice was ice cold from being frozen and very heavy. The pastry was wet from thawing and was soft. The icing was thick and sickly. The matchstick had mock cream in the centre. Who the hell sells pastries with mock cream these days. My coffee had a weird taste, so much so I threw it out. My partner's hot chocolate was passable. I would like to say that the vanilla slice and coffee were the worst I've ever had. These guys need to take a look at the other quality cafes in Victor Harbor. I don't recommend them.

3/7/25 - Follow up from your response. I'm certainly not mistaken. The actual bill was $26.92. One coffee $7.00 + Hot Chocolate $7.00 + Wet vanilla slice $6.00 + Matchstick $6.00 + Surcharge for using card payment $ 92cents. Pretty bad you don't even know your own prices. Go to Aria's Cafe in Ocean street and have their vanilla slice, fresh, light and quality. There was no way that vanilla slice was freshly baked. Why was the bag wet? Why was the pastry wet and soft? My family has always loved going to the yilki store over the years and always found the staff friendly and cheerful. As my children have gotten older I have let them go into the shop and choose an item themselves to purchase. We've always enjoyed visits to the yilki store when in encounter bay. Sadly my son visited the store today and on arriving home told me how he overheard the two young staff making fun of his physical appearance. Then after making his purchase they then went on to ridicule his purchase, given he was there for 10 minutes and only purchased a drink. We've never had this before and as a parent I don't feel comfortable with a couple of teenagers poking fun at my child when he is in the shop making a purchase. Absolutely atrocious service and filthy tables, Dirty tissues on tables and birds walking around, bird poo on the plastic table cover. Ordered ahead, 20 Min wait. Arrived and paid, said we would sit outside and should we come back in? Told they would bring food out to us no problem. After 35mins from phone call, went in to check, food was sitting in bain Marie going cold.

Then to be ripped off $1.50 extra for a thimble of tomato sauce, highway robbery!!

Erghhh a little effort people!
