Riverside Tavern — Restaurant in South West Rocks

From the moment my family and I walked to this restaurant we were greeted with the filthy smell of garbage and god knows what else right next to the rear entry, we sat down and ordered the chilli and cheese garlic bread as an entree and it came out on cheep undercooked hotdog buns, the cheese wasn't melted properly or even warm. The mains were OK. It's hard to mess up a pre assembled schnitzel but when we ordered the creamy garlic sauce we did not expect to receive clumps of minced garlic and cold cream. We took the plates back as the sauce was not edible, and when the plates were finally returned to our table with a different sauce, once again to our disgust they poured the new sauce over the old one which is not at all what we asked for, so we returned them again. By the third time we receive our meal, after a huge wait (everyone else had finished their meal) the meal was alright. Other members of my family ordered the beef cheese and bacon burger and the fish and chips. The burger did not live up to its expectations as it had NO BACON. As well as the bun being dry. The fish and chips were not shocking but neither plates got finished. I would highly suggest not taking the unnecessary drive out to the middle of nowhere to have bad service, bad meals and a bad smell. The most entertaining thing about out lunch was when we threw our food out to the magpies. Certainly will not be going back to the riverside tavern any time soon. Oh and not to mention it's pretty disgusting when you find human hair...

Arrived here at around 12:45pm purchased 3 beers and ordered 3 burgers (1 steak. 1 Shonk and 1 Southern chicken) Paid the $73 and was told that steak knives would come with the burgers. Being the 29th Dec and Holidays we expected some delay but when the first burger arrived at almost 2pm with cold chips and a lukewarm piece of steak we did complain. we were then abused by one of the waitstaff for not realising that they were " slammed". strange when the order was placed we were the only ones at the counter and no one behind us and we were not told at order time of any delays. The waitstaff member continued with a loud and abusive tone to say "go ahead do a review heard it all before, Go ahead complain to the manager he has heard it all before and doesn't care. We were offered a full refund for the meal we didn't get and that took 5 minutes as again the member of the waitstaff kept carrying on about how busy they were and stated that a sign saying a 1 hour delay on meals was visible when we ordered, well no it wasn't , at the time of our order the sign behind the counter was advertising fresh oysters. so to sum up this review. Wait staff abusive , Food cold Lol what we got to see of it and return and aparently they don't care about complains from customers, don't care about serving cold food and don't care about good customer service and PR. And on a final note we were told by the wait person "Get a Life". Well we do have one and that is why were out for lunch but never at Riverside...

VERY RUDE KITCHEN STAFF ,Friendly staff at the front counter & Bar ,Great Food but the kitchen staff putting the meals out for collection need a lesson in customer service & manners ,I made an inquiry as to how long two hamburgers would be considering the other meals on our table of four had already been received ,I was told they were just waiting for the buns !!! Waited again as the others at our table finished there meals Looked over at the collection window to see to hamburgers just sitting there I walked over and asked again how long our burgers would be & was told very rudely that they were in front of me at the window. I commented that they had not set the buzzer off to let us know and that there service had been terrible NOTHING was the reply , As we were about to leave a regular customer commented that the meal was fantastic ,the lady in the kitchen said thanks that makes up for all the whingers !!! NEWS FLASH LADY Making a legitimate complaint about bad service is not whinging Shit happens but her attitude was terrible .It is worth noting we were not the only ones in that hour to complain about...
