I was on my way to melbourne, with my parent who are visiting australia.I stop at Stawell to refilled my car,we then decided to go to George to get some chips.Entering the shop, there was quite a few people.I was waiting for my turn to be served. One guy called ,to take my order. As a 1st time customer,I asked him ,how big the portion were.As there were only 3 of us,I was thinking it would be quite big, I then asked him, "if there was anything smaller than this". The old man who was busy working on his order, quickly jump into our conversation and angrily respond, "ok $2.50" for half of the serve. So I agree, and gave them $3.The young guy kindly told me,"once they open the register,he will give me my 0.50c back".Less than 1min, I quickly change my mind and decided to give the young guy another $1 to grab the normal size chips.I thought of letting him know, before he start frying it. Goodness me,what can I say, "The old man once again budged in the conversation and start yelling at me,asking me to wait until they open the register.I was so annoyed by his reaction.I was trying to explain to him, what I was saying. But he wouldn't even listen.I was more upset about it ,because I didnt budged in,in front of anybody, for him to throw me a reaction liked this.I then told him, that he's very rude and doesn't know how to talk to people. He then, ordered me out of his shop, without even refunding me my money. He was overtalking me, I told him to shut up,as there was kids around and I thought I was very inappropriate. He got upset when I said so.He left his working station and came around and literally stand, less than half a metre from me and RAISE HIS PALM, ABOVE MY FACE LEVEL,and asked me to leave otherwise he will give me a slap and I will be out of his shop.I have to salute the lady at the counter, who apologies twice to me, and give me my money back.I then, went to the Ararat police station to put a complaint, unfortunately the constable said,he couldn't do anything about it as it's not a crime, but mentioned it's just poor customer service but he kept record of it.I was a bit shocked, when the cop asked me, if it was the old MAN?it seem you haven't done it once. You must be grateful, that you used your tiny bit of brain left and didn't RAISE your hand on me,otherwise you would have known the consequences. If you think you too old or tired, you can't handle stress OR pressure, stay home.Dont act...
Read moreI was eating here one night when I heard a loud whirring noise coming from the highway, suddenly the ceiling collapsed and Turkish Paratroopers started raiding the building as the whirring sound came closer. I was then sprayed with a barrage submachine gun fire which caused me to collapse on my souvlaki and get blood all over my chips, immediately the whirring sound revealed itself to be a Turkish Military Altay T2 battle tank which completely demolished the front entrance. Suddenly the owner of the store, a rather short yet brawny middle aged Greek man, kicked the barrel of the tank's cannon as it was about to fire. The cannon snapped clean off and caused the tank to implode upon firing which killed almost every Turkish invader in the building. The heat from the explosion properly cooked my food which I noticed was still raw before the raid. I figured the owner must have predicted the raid, but upon another visit, I realised they sometimes forget to actually cook the meat. I can forgive this because after I recovered from my bullet wounds the owner sent one of his child slaves to gift me a free bottle of tartar sauce, Groovy! Would...
Read moreI love this place! Reminds me of the old greek fish n chip shop that my family went to when I was a kid. Super friendly service with the staff smiling and joking with customers. The shop looks like its been in the family for decades, its homely and welcoming just like the people working in it.
The food hot, fresh and delicious. The only let down, and its pretty petty, is that the chips weren't prepared in-house just like the old greek fish n chippie used to do all those years ago. They are certainly a rare find these days, the somewhat greasy fat little chips that I remember with childish fondness.
Still the all too familiar crispy yellow chips every shop seems to serve up were cooked to crispy perfection and lavishly coated in a very tasty chicken salt in just the right proportions.
Overall decent food, served by lovely people in a very homely environment. Next time I'm passing through I'll be trying one of those very delicious...
