The 8 of us have eaten here quite a few times because it's central for all of us to get to. Service is usually passable and food pretty good, but last night the service was non-existent, and my meal was nowhere near what I have previously ordered, so bad I didn't eat it. We were left at our table with no offer of drinks until a waitress came over to take food orders. For some reason she took drink orders from the men but not the ladies. The barman lined the menâs drinks up on the bar and, after waiting 15 minutes, we went and got them ourselves. The barman said someone should have brought them to us, which is what usually happens and would have been nice, but we had not managed to attract the attention of any of the staff to beg for our drinks. Then the food arrived, a waitress at last, so our parched ladies could order a drink! Again, about 20 minutes later we had to fetch our own drinks from the bar. The staff had clearly decided âone drink each, thatâs all you getâ because we were then totally ignored, even after we finished the water. Please note that the restaurant was probably 60% full at the start but by 8.15 there were only 2 small tables of 2 or 3, our table of 8, and 9 staff (including visible kitchen staff and barman) and we STILL couldnât get anyoneâs attention to order another drink or address my dissatisfaction with my meal. In the end, after my meal had gone cold and we were talking about leaving, I went over to the young lady at the till and asked for a copy of the menu and told her I wasnât going to eat my meal and wanted to take a picture in the menu of what my meal was supposed to look like. I would have thought this would have been a bit of a hint to her of a dissatisfied customer, but she didnât bat an eye, just gave me a menu. I have ordered Choo Chee Prawn several times before here, and it normally comes in a fragrant red curry coconut sauce â not this time, just a bowl full of prawns with some veggies. Nice looking prawns, but no sauce, very dry. I had ordered rice as well but it would be impossible to eat with rice, too dry, unless I had a drink to wash it does withâŠâŠ..oh thatâs right, we were only allowed one drink. If at any stage a staff member had bothered to check in on our table, I would have been able to point out the problem with my meal, and they could have rectified it, or even brought me some red curry sauce on the side. I have never been to a restaurant where cannot at least call a waitress or attract attention by waving like a madman. I refused to pay for my meal, I had only tried 1 prawn and not touched anything else, I wasnât going to pay over $30 for something I didnât eat. The person I was told was the manager then had to call her boss about it. After her phone call she agreed not to charge me. What should I say, thanks? She made a VERY half-hearted apology and we left. Home to make myself something to eat because I was thirsty and starving, just the way you want to feel when leaving a restaurant!! I donât know if itâs new owners, or new management, but we all agreed we are never going back. There are loads of restaurants on the coast that appreciate...
Read moreWe've been here before, first really great that's why we came back again. But this time something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. We ask for the air conditioner to be turn down little bit as it was cold and wet, not a 40'summers day (and it was blasting), but to my amazement when I went to the bar to ask for the toilet key 30 mins later the young girl tried to make out I was asking for the air-conditioning to be turned down? (obviously they way she freaks with things)?? My partner sitting on the table heard them laughing while I was on the toilet.said no I want the toilet key so I it's easy to see she didn't mention it before and was trying to make a big deal if it now?? anyway we ate our meal and had worked out the total before going to pay the bill, and the was a big sign at the bar saying 15% surcharge today (it wasn't a public holiday so we enquired about the charge) she asked one of the other staff then they shook their heads and turned the sign around, we continued to pay or bill and noticed the corkage was $4 a glass instead of$3 ( we ate here before that's why we knew it was 3) and we ordered 4 prawn roll which came to $17.20 instead of 3 roll for $11:50.. on our table menu it says 3 for 10.5.so it came out 1 extra prawn cost $5.70 ( I suggest you have to print NEW AND UPDATED MENU as per the menu, and a takeaway container which we were charged $50 cents for but last time no charge! so thank you thank you 24 Thai Street we got the message a shame because the kitchen works so hard and the food is good so mixed messages there but good luck not being another good restaurant going to the toilet because sending mixed messages to paying customers!! Good Luck I think your going to need it!! We'll take out...
Read moreLast night we booked a table at this restaurant and that was our first mistake. We were served by a lovely young man so very helpful and we ordered the fishcakes for starters and then for main basil and chilli and a beef curry. The fish cakes came out on time and to be honest tasted like packet fish cakes very chewy. while waiting for our mains 3 other groups came in for dinner. As the night went on I noticed the 3 other groups were all getting their mains which we thought odd.I tried to make contact with the staff but they just weren't interested so I went up to the counter and asked what had happened to our mains as it had now been 40 minutes and others who came in later were being served. The staff looked very uncomfortable and moments later the beef curry was brought to our table solid cold like it just came out of the fridge. I went back up to the counter and the kitchen staff were all trying to avoid eye contact then the basil dish was ready I noticed it had been sitting on the bench for some time. Needless to say we paid for the chewy fishcakes and left....
