I've never felt so disappointed and hurt by a place that came so highly recommended.
We drove three hours just to visit after hearing nothing but praise from friends who described it as peaceful, relaxing, and truly special ā especially the outdoor patio, but I forgot they are White Aussies. We specifically set aside time for this trip, genuinely excited to experience it ourselves.
But from the moment we arrived, we were met with rudeness and hostility. As first-time visitors, we took a moment to look around there were no clear signs saying where we could or couldn't go, and others were walking in the same direction. Suddenly, a staff member called out to us in a harsh, condescending tone: "You're not allowed in there." There was no kindness or patience in her voice, just judgment.
We explained we didnāt know, but she continued: "What are you looking for there? Thatās private property." Her tone was unnecessary, as if we had done something terribly wrong. She didnāt even try to guide or assist us, just barked at us like we werenāt welcome.
Then she proceeded to pressure us to order, hovering over us with a dirty plate in her hand, watching us like we were a problem. We hadnāt even had the chance to sit down or take the place in properly. She asked if we had a table already ā clearly rushing us ā even though she could see we were still just looking. The look she gave us was filled with disgust, like we didnāt belong.
It honestly felt like we were treated that way because we were the only Asians there, surrounded by White locals. Iāve never felt so unwelcome in all my time in this country. The experience was not just disappointing, it was deeply upsetting. We didnāt even get to eat. We left shortly after, and I cried on the way back to the car. Thatās how bad it was.
It hurts that we spent so much time, energy, and hope only to be met with what felt like discrimination and complete disrespect. If youāre Asian or a tourist, I urge you to think twice. No one deserves to be made to feel like this.
Do better. This was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSaturdays morning outing for breakfast - decided we drive to the Glasshouse Plantation. A very nice place to have breakfast - with a view of the Glasshouse Mointains. Lots of tables outside - covered - also inside seating. You can see the coffee trees - the souroundings are very well maintained. We had coffee - 100% Australian grown - with camel milk - from a nearby farm - delicious, a muffin with eggs and bacon - we ask if they can half it for us - very tasty and we also tried the Banana bread, served with local butter - delicious. A water station is available - nice touch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Various souveniers - representing the "theme" offered. Next time, we are going to experience the coffee tasting offered. There are guided tours on offer - you wander through the Plantation and learn everything from the "bean to the cup." It is nice to have a place nearby - for a little break - excellent coffee - tranquillity and good service - oh, I forgot to mention the view - thank you, we will be back! Compliments to...

We did a tour of the coffee plantation and it was absolutely fascinating. Lisa is an incredible wealth of information and a champion of the Australian Coffee Growing industry. We learned so much and Lisa is a truly engaging story teller.
We followed the farm tour with coffee tasting guided by Nick. This was also a fabulous experience and the coffees were sensational.
The trees that Lisa and her partner Paul planted 4 years ago have just yielded their first harvest so we will be back to taste the home grown beans in the very near future.
Glasshouse Plantation is such a beautiful place with a wonderful and evolving story, run by a lovely, generous, knowledgeable and passionate family.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to the region. Book one of the experiences and then relax in the cafe taking in the amazing views and the...
