As I couldn’t reply to the cafe owner comment on my previous reply, this is my update: Thank you for your reply. However, I’d like to clarify a few points from my experience.
Firstly, at no point during my visit did anyone apologise for the delay or confusion of the coffee at the time it occurred. Your response suggests that staff apologised, but that was not the case. Additionally, your explanation that this was an honest mix-up between me and an Uber Eats driver does not align with what actually happened. The Uber Eats driver arrived after I had already left the premises.
Even if we assume hypothetically that we were both at the counter at the same time, standard hospitality practice — which I am very familiar with after working in the industry for over seven years — would be to politely ask, “How may I help you?” or confirm the purpose of the visit before handing over an order. Instead, your staff handed me a takeaway meant for an Uber driver without confirming my order or intention, which felt dismissive and discriminatory.
The explanation that all your staff are of Asian background and therefore could not have acted in a racially discriminatory way is both inappropriate and inaccurate. Racial bias and profiling can occur across all ethnicities — being of Asian background does not exempt anyone from engaging in discriminatory behaviour. What matters is the conduct, not the ethnicity. Assuming that a person of darker skin tone must be a delivery driver is a clear example of racial profiling, regardless of who makes that assumption.
To make matters worse, the apology I eventually received was delivered with laughter, making it appear insincere and dismissive.Respect and professionalism go both ways, and I did not feel either during my visit.
Racial profiling, in any form and by anyone, is unacceptable — and being of a certain ethnic background does not excuse or justify such...
Read moreToday was one of the worst ever experiences I’ve had with this place ! It was actually ridiculous how long we had to wait to make an order… the waitress actually went taking orders from other customers who walked in a while after us while we were waiting over 15mins to be served ! We ordered a big Brekky and cheese tomato croissant. we were told they ran out of croissant so opted for sandwich bread instead, after another 10mins, the waitress brought out ham&cheese toastie which we asked them to remake as it was wrong! After another 15mins they brought it out wrong again ! Another staff member came to our table after this back & forth order to confirm whether we were after croissant even though we were told they ran out ! The communication in this place is just ridiculous! While I finished my whole big Brekky meal ! My partner was still waiting for her sandwich and again they brought it out wrong ! We ended up leaving this bad customer service place ! How many times can you get an order wrong !! 4 times HaHa...
Read moreMy New Fave Spot! So, I just moved to town about a month ago, and guess what? I stumbled upon this cafe that's, like, my absolute go-to now. the vibe is just perfect. Super chill for a lazy morning or a laid-back lunch. They've got this cozy inside setup, and if you're into people-watching like I am, grab a seat outside and enjoy the street view., I've practically tried everything, and each dish is like a flavor explosion. I can't get enough of it . especially recommend you try the "Fattoush Salad" – seriously good stuff this dish changed my mind even though I don't like eating vegetables very much. And the service? Top-notch. The crew there is friendly and on the ball. It's the kind of service that makes you want to keep coming back. So, If you're after a real, no-nonsense, awesome spot to grab a bite, this cafe is it. It's made my time in this town ten times better, and I'm betting it'll do the same for you. Check it out – you won't be...
