Bula Burgers (formerly Charro’s Burger. Same Burger Menu) — Restaurant in Sydney

This place is modest in its presentation to say the least. Not the food so much - it’s just burgs and fries after all, but the place itself is very unassuming to look at.

All the reviews seemed pretty great so thought I’d give it a bash. I will normally go for beef in a burger joint as a good quality indicator but as I’d already had a couple quite recently I had more of a craving for chicken.

I went for the Mr. Picante and I’ve gotta say I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to live up the reviews. The pictures look simple and no frills, so it’s hard to really tell, but it really was super tasty. The bun was soft and fresh, the chicken (two fried tenders) felt like they were battered in house, also fresh, well cooked (not too oily or over crisped) and very moist, quality breast. The sauce was great, it had lots of red onion bits and coleslaw which made it all very (going to say this word again) moist… which is what you want and need from any burger.

Even the fries were great. So many places have the same ‘off the shelf’ frozen fries that have no soul or flavour and are just hollow crispy sticks, but these were closer to shoestring fries and were crunchy but also fluffy with potato on the inside and well seasoned. I’m not even a massive fan of chicken salt really, but they just about nailed it.

I’m so pleased this really modest place delivered such a good burger. It’s really simple stuff and yet so many choose poor ingredients and miss the mark by a mile. All of the food was great and to top it all off it was very reasonably priced. Most of the burgers are very affordable and great value which made it all the more excellent as it was a great example of simplicity done well.

Absolutely top marks for this place and I’ll look forward to trying the beef...

Pulled in to get fuel last night, saw a burger van , asked a question,and they were so nice to me i thought id try a burger ,just because they were lovely people ,im fussy and dont like spicy food, i could tell the owner took pride in his burgers and flavour combinations , but adjusted a burger to suit me anyway.. i left before i started to eat the burger on the long drive home , from the first bite , i was overwhelmed.. i havent had a burger that good in sooo long..so fresh, so well presented,and sooo bloody tasty! and all with a smile.. i wish i lived closer. Thankyou so much for caring about the food you make ! ( the chicken Hawaiian with no spicy stuff at 10 pm ) much praise and...

Just had an amazing dinner at a burger place that totally blew us away! We ordered the “Charroa Special” and the “Hawaiian Peri Peri” and honestly, both were incredible.

The Charroa Special was super juicy, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly — every bite was better than the last. The Hawaiian Peri Peri had this awesome mix of sweet and spicy that made it really different and so tasty. You could tell they put a lot of care into everything.

The vibe of the place was really chill and welcoming, and the service was spot on — super friendly and fast. Definitely one of the best burger spots I’ve been to, and I’m already looking forward...
