Colyton Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

Disappointed. Place is run down. Wouldn't recommend or stay again. We stayed over night and dined at pub. Lack of signage where to go to check in, and never a staff member visible; bar staff included, finally found a chief to help me find check in he was lovely. After waiting at desk for 10-15mins calling out ringing bell, I had to ring the desk for a lady come out, whom was very rude. Our reservation was lost so no trace of booking or where my payment details went 2weeks prior, was told pretty much so sad to bad, until I stated we had no other option they would find us a room no matter what. We originally booked a queen with a single bed, we were given 3 singles. The cleaners did there best to hold 2 single beds together to make the queen, they didn't separate and the hump connecting them was minimal but as the were singles, and worn in we kept falling into the bows/dents in the bed hard to sleep in as a queen. We were not offered a discount or anything for the incidence $155 a night!!! Cleaners were lovely and very helpful a lot better than management. Room key failed to work first go check in reception was locked and unmanned had to again track down staff through the bar and got told to wait at locked reception door for assistance, another 10mins later the assistant manager fixed our key issue. TV wasn't explained and half the normal channels were code locked. No Wifi without code. No codes given. Toilet in room could use more of a clean, there was urine and fecal matter on outside of bowl. There was ghetto spray paint on outside of toilet window along with a big hole in the grating letting night air in. Room itself was cleanish, beds made free of dust and debre, but I think doonas and blankets are reuseed unwashed only saw towels and sheets leave rooms when cleaners worked, and saw new people arrive in made rooms where I didn't see new blankets or quilt covers go into, same goes for unused/half used rolls of toilet paper, unopened soaps, teas coffees, they appears to be left in room until used or run out, and only topped up. Floor needs a good steam clean it had a lot of stains. Light was blown in our room, paint was peeling off wall, along with structual cracks at the doorframe. Towels and sheets fresh and clean, good supply of soap,shampoo, body wash, bread, cereal, spreads ie jam, milk, biscuits, milk, air con worked great. Small rooms but did the job, cutlery, kettle, toaster, fridge. Car spaces not designated to each room or infront of and to close together, also lack of walkways; We had a big white ding on our 2015 model car appear overnight I think our neighbors car door...We also dined at pub food was tasteless dog cuts, a little bit of overcooked meat; mostly all fat, veggies very undercooked basically raw, gravies never came. Didn't bother getting drinks no staff were around to order. Tables to close together, very casual. Booked as a last option, in the end we spend $420 accommodation and food ghetto feel for 5star prices to expensive. Wouldn't stay again or recommend, to run down, can't find staff half the time, and all bar the chief and...

We had a group booking for a family wedding . Not happy with breakfast times as we were notified 6.30am to 11.30 on our reservations. When we checked in we were informed by reception staff break fast was from 6.30am to 9.30am everyday. When we came down for breakfast on day 1 we were informed 10.30am. Day 2 we were informed breakfast closes 9.30. Last day of our stay we were informed Weekdays 6.30 to 9.00am and weekends 6.30am to 10.30am. Half the guests had no breakfast from second day onwards. At 8.30am everyday kitchen was closed as they didny serve any cooked meals. Very disappointing as hotel had advertised different time and your staff follow different times. On another occasion we all were having breakfast and there was not enough bread, milk or hot water and this is before 9am. We asked for boiled eggs only and the breakfast staff informed it was $5.00. Are you serious? On the last day which was on a Weekday of our stay and only informed that morning that breakfast will close at 9am. Breakfast was being cleared before 9am while we were still having breakfast and there were more of our family members coming. Lot of improvements required with advertisements and quantity of food allowed at breakfast when there are so many guests especially when the hotel knew there was a group booking of 25 people. Some of the Staffs were rude especially in the breakfast area. I had to call Manager on duty to have breakfast times sorted. How is it the guests fault if the hotels advertisements are not up to date?We paid for a service and it was not provided right. Too many communication breakdown. Not full breakfast service was provided. Overall the hotel rooms were nice and clean. Location was perfect and big thank you to the house keeping team who were so nice and friendly and made our stay...

just an update. not really sure what happened between 2023 and now. yikes. came back for dinner tonight. we ordered everything via me&u. we ordered a carlton dry jug and a coke zero jug, we ended up waiting for 20 minutes and i had to go up to the bar and ask for it. kept looking at the bar while waiting and it was unstaffed mostly. when i asked for the jugs, there was no apology of anything like that. fair enough waiting that long for cocktails but for a beer and some coke is CRAZZZZY. chicken schnitty for dinner - the texture was insanely bad. tasted like you were chewing on every single muscle fibre inside the chicken. the chips were very mid and just tasted like oil. the pepper gravy was very watery. the breading kept falling off the chicken. don’t recommend at all, way too much money for the quality we got. chicken caesar salad saves the day. really good chicken and an all around great salad. yummy croutons and fresh lettuce. i really don’t know what happened to this place and im a bit disappointed.

2023: went for lunch today and ordered the chicken schnitzel with avocado, cheese, hollandaise, bacon. yum :) friendly staff and very clean from what i could tell. service was also quick. haven't visited in a few years but it seems to be a lot better...
