Avoid this place like the plague! It was my sister's birthday and having not been here before, it was decided as a place to gather and celebrate. Do not do this! Okay, so it's a lovely view but that's it. The entree a Thai dish was cold and lacked any Thai flavour. The croquettes were awful. We asked for the battered flathead and chips. The waitress informed us "there is no flathead." We requested the barramundi be battered instead. The waitress informed us "there is no barramundi." So we requested chips The waitress replied "We've run out of chips." So it's 1pm and this IS a Seafood restaurant right? The waitress then informed us "We could "scrape" up some chips for you." Mind you we were informed they are only "chips out of a packet." Then miraculously battered flathead and chips appeared. Our mother requested "Garlic bread." She was given (as we all) one slice of complimentary bread with oil . No garlic bread. The fish itself was nice. A few of our family are vegetarian but that was not catered to with the serving of an overly sweet, runny, cheese tart with 3 bits of tomato and anchovy sauce. Anchovies are not vegetarian. The lack of vegetarian dishes is pathetic. When my sister requested lemon for her fish and chips, the waitress replied, "We've run out of lemons." My sister requested lime perhaps? She was then given a half of a quarter of lime. But it seems there is no shortage of limes as my brother in law was served a Scotch and coke with a wedge of lime. Who does that? When another guest had to ask for some lime for their fish and chips, the waitress replied that seeing one person at the end of the table had an extra piece of lime she could not give someone else lime. Obviously they ration strictly at this "restaurant." No lemon or lime will be served with your fish and chips....remember that. When one of our guests had to request sugar for his coffee, a single sugar cube was brought out. Pity if you like two sugars in your coffee. Overall the staff were rude, ignored our requests for service, gave us filfthy looks and were "bitching" about our party of eight in full view of us. Their service was disgusting. They are mean hearted, obviously unable to cater correctly and ruined what should have been an enjoyable and memorable day. The staff had the worst attitude you could imagine and with a price tag of $800 plus for our party of 8 (the largest there) they certainly did nothing to earn this. Never, ever again will any of us ever return to this poor excuse of a restaurant. These people know nothing about customer service, politeness, catering, being well stocked and to be blunt; they lied to us, frequently. Plus they are overpriced and the food quality is very under par. Do yourself a favour. Avoid at all costs The Estuary...
Read moreEstuary Restaurant is a venue literally a stones throw away from the Hawksbry River, in Brooklyn NSW. With breathtaking panoramic views from anywhere you are seated/standing within the restaurant/balcony and from the dine out seating by the trees.
Greated as you walk into the brasserie glass doors by a lovely energetic Hostess, who oozes a knowledgeable & beautiful presence that makes you feel like you're in a 5* Hotel anywhere in the world.
The fire place is a grand warming touch to the inside brasserie, where you can see the owners have thought out the details. As the restaurant is mostly glass to soak in the view & the warmth coming from the fire & sun on a lovely winters afternoon. If you still are one to feel the cold you are provided with a blanket if needed.
Great to see some local support on the wine list, as a fair chunk of the wines are from the Hunter Valley Region.
To take a glance at the menu, you can see that it has been thought out by the Chef(s). With a range of dietary options across the menu which includes vegan/vegetation across entree/main and on the sides, does show a lot of care & passion when it was being designed. Well done to whom designed it as all 8 of us found your food above expectations & not what has been said in previous reviews.
To the food, what a flavor sensation where you feel like your taste buds are break dancing. Each meal our table had really amazed us all, as the dishes not only looked/smelled amazing the flavor as mentioned was bang on. Well done to the Estuary Kitchen Team! We will be back in September for the Wine dinner & hopefully again for Christmas.
Not as pricey as some people have been preaching for the quality/service & view. It is healthy to indulge & spoil yourself every now & than, with a not so tiring trip into the...
Read moreSadly, I never even got to order a coffee here.
Not being from the area, and being on the home-leg of a 3 day School Camp with 26 primary-aged students who had just stepped off a ferry, I was directed to take a handful of students who needed to go to the bathroom down the side of the restaurant. I was unaware that these were not public restrooms but belonging to the restaurant, which I would have never have tried to access had I known. I very quickly found this information out by two of the Estuary Restaurant staff members yelling at and berating my 10 year old students. Clearly they are children, though they were not screaming or mucking around. You never treat children in such a manner, you speak to the adult who is clearly with them, without being disgustingly rude and yelling at the adult too.
So thank you for upsetting unsuspecting and innocent 10 year olds and making them cry, I hope that you both felt like a bigger and better people after this moment. I'm positive that there were many other options for both of you ladies in handling this situation much better, and actually coming off looking like professional people with a positive public relations mindset. The fact that members of the public who witnessed this, came to see if the children were ok and commented on the disgusting mannerism and behaviour of the two female staff, including their horrible attitude towards children, solidifies that their disturbing behaviour was far from appropriate.
Extremely disappointed with the lack of basic...
